Field Officer – North and Akkar

Project Background:

The René Moawad Foundation (RMF) is implementing an initiative in Lebanon aimed at strengthening the capacities of Social Development Centers (SDCs). The initiative focuses on enhancing SDCs’ institutional and operational competencies at both the community and national levels, enabling more coordinated, effective, and localized responses to the ongoing crisis. Through this approach, the initiative reinforces frontline response mechanisms and supports sustainable, community-driven action. The project is implemented in partnership with United Nations Development Programme and funded by KfW Development Bank.

Position summary:

The Field Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day field operation of the project activities in North-Lebanon and Akkar. More specifically, he/she will follow-up with and liaise among the Trainers, the Social Development Centers (SDCs), and the local communities, ensuring that the capacity-building program and pilot initiatives are successfully localized, tailored, and implemented to meet identified needs and mitigate challenges.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular contact with the Team Leader, Capacity Building Expert, the Specialized Trainers, and M&E specialists.
  • Coordinate the logistics of the training sessions, ensuring their successful and timely implementation.
  • Ensure that the SDC staff attend and successfully complete the training sessions;
  • Support the Specialized Trainers in successfully delivering their training material;
  • Provide on-site technical guidance, if deemed necessary, and work closely with the SDCs’ staff to design pilot activities based on their knowledge of the local context and the themes of the training sessions.
  • Support the data collection efforts of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team for the indicator tracking table, attendance sheets, pre- and post-test results, and camera consents, as per donor guidelines.
  • Contribute to the project reporting efforts and identify/document success stories.
  • Explore and report potential challenges or implementation bottlenecks that might hinder the implementation of the project activities.
  • Determine and report any changes in the project timeline to the Team Leader and Capacity Building Expert.

Functional Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, Socio-Economic Development, or any a related field.
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in supporting the implementation of similar interventions, especially at the level of SDCs.
  • Proven experience in organizing training logistics or supporting the design of pilot activities. Experience in the targeted Governorate is a plus.
  • Experience reporting on project activities (required) as well as research and data collection (preferred).
  • Excellent English and Arabic writing and speaking skills. French is a plus.
