Outreach Volunteer Worker

The René Moawad Foundation is seeking an Outreach Volunteer Worker to join the team in Akkar and North Lebanon. The primary task of the Outreach Volunteer Worker is to identify and map areas within informal settlements where old plastic sheets are available, coordinate with local communities for collection, and ensure the successful implementation of the recycling initiative.

 

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mapping of informal settlements to identify households and community areas with old plastic sheets available for collection.
  • Engage with community leaders, local organizations, and refugees to promote the project and gain support for the collection of plastic sheets.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed database and GIS maps of targeted settlements, highlighting collection points and areas with high potential for sheet recovery.
  • Collaborate with the project team to design and execute collection strategies, ensuring efficient gathering and transportation of plastic sheets to recycling facilities.
  • Monitor and document the quantity and quality of plastic sheets collected, providing regular updates and reports to the Project Coordinator.
  • Support the team in identifying potential challenges and proposing solutions to ensure the smooth operation of the recycling initiative.
  • Ensure all activities comply with local regulations and organizational policies, particularly in relation to waste management and community engagement.

 

  1. Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mapping, community engagement, or humanitarian response, preferably within refugee or informal settlement contexts.
  • Strong understanding of environmental sustainability and waste management practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Proven experience in conducting fieldwork, particularly in remote or underserved communities.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in community engagement and awareness-raising.

  • Comprehensive maps and databases of targeted informal settlements, highlighting areas with old plastic sheets.
  • Regular progress reports detailing the quantity and quality of plastic sheets collected.
  • A final report summarizing activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future projects.

 

  1. Terms and Conditions
  • Work Environment: The position requires regular travel to informal settlements and direct engagement with refugee communities.
  • Travel Arrangements: Travel to the field will be provided by the organization's car.
