Special educators must collaborate with psychologists, social workers, speech therapists, psychomotor therapists and animators to accommodate the requirements of children with mental health conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, emotional disorders, behavioral disorders, anxiety and depression.
Special educators work with children who have a wide variety of mental, emotional, physical, and learning disabilities. For example, some work with children who need assistance in subject areas such as reading, math and developing learning skills.
The selected candidate will have to:
Conduct individual sessions with children presenting learning difficulties or behavioral disorders
Conduct psycho-education sessions with parents of children being followed-up.
Participate in the global evaluation conducted by the multidisciplinary team
Draft detailed reports for each child
Participate in the team supervison sessions conducted at the center
Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each child’s abilities
Discuss children’s progress with parents, and the multidisciplinary team
