Neuroscience of Play Consultant

Objectives:

Overall Objective: Introduce Right To Play staff in Lebanon and Jordan to the three areas identified in the below description in order to prepare the organization to explore research around the impact of play and RTP programming in the lives of children and youth.

1. Neuroscience of play: Provide staff with an overview of the array of neuroscience research as it applies to play and creative expression.

2. Brain-based training: Highlight evidence-based interventions that promote well-being across academic, social-emotional, and health domains. 

Process:

  • Consultation with Right To Play team to finalize the methodology.
  • Right To Play staff in Jordan (between 20 and 30 persons) and in Lebanon (between 20 and 25 persons) should be engaged in at least one day workshop/training during December 2018.
  • An action plan would be devised with staff on how to gather practical evidence based on the knowledge gained in the workshops.

 

EXPECTED TASKS AND DELIVERABLES OF JUNIOR CONSULTANT

The duration for this training as stated above is 4 days of implementation.  Factored in will be time required to prepare the material and sessions as well as evaluating the training. The consultant will work directly with the Country Director for Lebanon and Jordan and the Program Managers in the country offices. He/she will be supported by other relevant RTP staff where necessary. The overall activities and deliverables for the consultant can be summarized in the table below:

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
Ideal candidates should have:

  • An academic background in neuroscience and proven experience in training and research around the neuroscience of play
  • Strong facilitation skills, particularly with regards to working with vulnerable groups
  • Relevant experience in the outlined subject matter
  • Communication Skills: Well developed written and oral communication skills, including fluency in English and Arabic
  • Interested in Right to Play
  • Demonstrated understanding and support of principles of equity, participation and inclusion .
