Background: The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is an internationally operating non-profit institution that has become a provider of political education and a center for progressive social research in both Germany and throughout the world. RLS promotes critical analysis of society, and supports transnational, emancipatory and solidarity networks that strive for democratic and social participation and empowerment.
RLS is working in Lebanon since 2017. The Beirut office currently works within Lebanon and Iraq and Syria as its main countries of cooperation (in close cooperation with local partner institutions, groups, and individuals on site) . RLS also analyzes developments in Iran.
Scope of Work: The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung seeks an experienced social media expert based in Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan for our fieldwork assignments in the region, to document, produce and edit audio-visual data during and post fieldwork visits. Produce professional content, photographs, videos and reels, and manage regular weekly/biweekly posts on our website and social media channels to highlight our project and activities in Kurdistan as well as supports the overall social media work, including the website, of RLS Beirut.
Requirements:
- Experience in social media management, preferably in a non-profit, political, or/and food sovereignty context.
- Strong expertise in using social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and, YouTube, as well as managing and updating Website content.
- Ability to create engaging and relevant content, including graphics, videos, and written posts.
- Experience in developing and implementing social media strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Being able to respond effectively to public interactions.
- Ability to handle social media crises
- Join regular field assignments
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with cross functional teams
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in social media
- A university degree in communications, media studies, journalism, political science, or a related field is desirable; however, candidates with significant relevant professional experience will also be considered.
- Experience in social media content creation, website design and audio-video design and editing from raw visual data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Kurdish and English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus
Terms of assignment:
- The consultant will be expected to work on demand to prepare materials and posts for publication and deliver the required tasks over a one-year period
