The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is an internationally operating non-profit institution that has become a provider of political education and a center for progressive social research in both Germany and throughout the world. RLS promotes critical analysis of society, and supports transnational, emancipatory and solidarity networks that strive for democratic and social participation and empowerment. RLS is affiliated with the German political party "The Left/ Die Linke".
RLS is working in Lebanon since 2017. The Beirut office currently works within Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq as its main countries of cooperation (in close cooperation with local partner institutions, groups, and individuals on site) and analyzes developments in Iran, Yemen, Saudi-Arabia and Qatar.
For our Beirut office, we are looking for a Program Manager for Syria and for Migration and Forced Migration, starting from 1st of May 2022.
Main responsibilities
• Develop, implement and monitor RLS Beirut program on migration and forced migration;
• Analyze political, economic and societal developments around Syria;
• Plan and implement national and transnational projects with partners, as well as self-implemented activities;
• Work closely with partners in the region, monitor their activities, expenses and budget, take part in planning workshops and deal with administrative tasks related to these partners;
• Participate in national and international dialogues and conferences;
• Participate in the development and implementation of other programs of the Beirut office when needed;
• Support the overall performance and further development of RLS office in Beirut.
Required qualifications
• Post-graduate degree in social science or a related field;
• Good analytical and factual understanding of Lebanese, Syrian and regional politics, civil society and grassroots movements;
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in Program Management, Administration and Monitoring;
• Work experience with regard to Syria and in the field of Migration and Forced Migration in the West Asia region;
• Experience in conceptualizing, implementing and documenting workshops, round-tables, and similar events;
• Working experience with research institutions or NGOs in the region;
• Language skills: Arabic, English (German and French as an asset);
• Responsible and self-reliantly organized team worker;
• Highly motivated, very communicative and creative;
• Identification with the overall goals of the RLS.
Post Conditions
• Type of contract: Local Lebanese consultancy contract until the end of 2022 with the possibility of extension;
• Working hours: Full time (40 hours/week):
• Location: Beirut, with possible deployments to other countries in the West Asia region;
• Salary & Conditions: According to RLS Beirut Salary Scale;
• Starting date: May 2022
