Program Background Safadi Foundation (SF) is currently running its program entitled “Accelerated Vocational Training Centre for the SocioEconomic inclusion in the North and Akkar”, which is funded by the Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP), that has been launched in June 2019 and running till 31 December 2022. The program aimed to support directly 1,500 young males and females from the host communities and refugees from the districts of Tripoli, Akkar, and Donnieh-Minieh, either in Safadi Foundation training centers or Partner’s premises. The program encompasses from one side a component of multi-fold capacity building of vulnerable youth and from another side the cooperation with local and national stakeholders able to support work-based-learning activities of 600 trainees and integrate 900 graduates in the Labor Market. The program’s underlying theory of change, therefore, is if youth are provided with quality technical basic or advanced education and comprehensive employability training, they will be better prepared to secure formal employment in Lebanon’s crowded and competitive labor market, or start their own businesses as empowered self-employed individuals and become engaged in the economic development of their families, communities, and cities.
The main overall objective is: “To stimulate sustainable economic participation of vulnerable youth to promote their inclusion in the development of marginalized communities.”. The first specific objective of this project is “to develop youth employability through comprehensive training programs”. Target beneficiaries had access to accelerated market-based training and self-development programs that prepared them to increase their competitiveness in the skilled labor market. Finally, the project aimed “to strengthen private sector and national actor engagement in active labor market programs”, by participating in developing an effective labor program leading to a significant reduction in the identified skills gap.
