Referral Officer - Secondary Health Care

Key Responsibilities

  • In charge of SAMS referral hotline; receive phone calls from beneficiaries requesting information about services available and/or refer beneficiaries to relevant service providers through the standardized referral system 
  • In coordination with the Project Coordinator, network with social welfare providers in order to map service networks for referral and update it on a quarterly basis
  • Ensure that information about SAMS services are available on the relevant data platforms including RIMS and ActivityInfo, is kept up to date
  • Make referrals to relevant service providers through standardized referral system and conduct regular follow-up with service providers on referred cases
  • Report each referral into the adequate platforms to ensure comprehensive tracking of referrals
  • Conduct advocacy to local service providers regarding health and protection concerns in coordination with the Project Coordinato
  • Collect, record, compile, and clean data of beneficiaries served under SAMS projects in coordination with the MEAL department, and follow-up with Project Officers for missing or inconsistent data
  • Maintain a detailed and secure patient processing database on a monthly basis, including all patients received and covered by SAMS
  • Ensure monthly follow-up with SAMS' patients who have been discharged from the hospital and guide them to receive necessary care and services either through the provision of links or complete referrals based on available relevant services
  • Contribute to intermediate and final project reporting, reporting on challenges, conducted trainings, finance progress, follow-up calls, and referrals
  • Adhere to, and actively promote the PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and Child Safeguarding standards within SAMS and amongst beneficiaries served by SAMS
  • Uphold SAMS commitment to safeguarding donor funds and preventing of anti-fraud, bribery, and corruption, in line with donor regulations and SAMS policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as agreed upon with the Project Coordinator  

Desired Education and Essential Skills

  • University/Baccalaureate degree in Public Health, Social Work, or other related fields
  • Two to three years of relevant work experience in humanitarian settings - preferably with international NGOs and/or community-based organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure
  • Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to maintain a rapid and demanding pace of work
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, visitors, partner institutions including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public
  • Prior experience with primary, secondary, or tertiary healthcare, with mental health and psychosocial support, gender-based violence, and/or medical education programs is desired, but not required.
