2 PROJECT OFFICERS for the Emergency Response in Northern Lebanon-Akkar  Main objective To promote the Rights to education, protection and basic needs of the Syrian Children living in Lebanon in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child through co-operation with local organizations, institutions, authorities and international organizations. This should be done in a way which will strengthen the civil society in which children are perceived as social players and human beings in their own right.  In co-operation with The Lebanon Country Director, staff at Save the Children’s offices, local authorities in Northern Lebanon-Akkar, national organizations and international organizations and agencies.  Areas of responsibility The 2 Project Officers are responsible for the proper implementation of the grants targeting support to Syrian children living in Lebanon.  This includes budget as well as programmatic monitoring according to the instructions and principles of Save the Children and to specific donors requirements. S/he will have to represent responsibly Save the Children in coordination meetings.   Child Safeguarding The responsibilities of these positions may require the incumbents to have regular contact with children and young people. As part of these responsibilities they will support the establishment of child safeguarding systems, promote a culture of keeping children safe, and ensure that potential harm to children (by our own staff and/or as a result of how we do our work) is identified and addressed on an on-going basis.  The project officers should report and respond to interventions as determined by position related responsibilities identified in the Child Safeguarding Policy.  The Project Officers also have the following areas of responsibility: Contribute to the development of the project’s work plan with realistic and achievable long-term goals and short-term objectives Ensure that project objectives are achieved, and that deviations from the work plan and budget are properly reported and documented. Finalize contractual agreements between partners and Save the Children in line with SC contractual requirements. Provide technical support to partners and monitor project implementation based on contractual agreements made with SC through conducting field visits and attending project activities. Organize and contribute to project events directly implemented by SC (invitees, resource persons, logistics, etc…) Follow up on reporting requirements with partners. Prepare periodical reports and fact sheets in both English and Arabic. Actively contribute to program and budget development along with close communication with partners on the field. Contribute to advocacy and communication work. Contribute to the institutional memory and the experience-sharing by reporting and feedback, innovating initiatives and by networking with other colleagues/regions. Ensure that documents such as project memos, descriptions and agreements are developed and kept according to approved formats. Support and stimulate teamwork within SC country office. Contribute to coordination between various program areas and thematic focuses to ensure maximum impact of the activities on SC programs. Carry out additional tasks upon decision within the limits of the character of the post.

• At least 3 years’ experience in project management and budget control.
• At least bachelor degree in social work, education, human rights or development studies.
• Knowledge of the Human Rights and the Child Rights Convention.
• Capacity to combine field and office work.
• Very good interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
• Very good English reporting skills. Arabic language skills are a strong asset.
• Availability and willingness for internal travels and/or to be based in Akkar.
