Child Protection Assistant

ROLE PURPOSE: The Child Protection Assistant will be responsible for implementing the Child Protection Programme under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer. He/ She will work to ensure that activities agreed under the partnership agreements with local partners are carried out and monitored and that timely reporting occurs. The CP Assistant will support the overall capacity building and training activities for partners’ staff to ensure a quality implementation with the beneficiaries. SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Child Protection Officer Staff directly reporting to this post: None KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:  Under the supervision of Child Protection Officer the Assistant will play a critical role in: Supporting the identification of suitable sites/location to set up and conduct activities. Supporting, training and coaching for partners’ staff and animators. Conducting outreach activities in the implementation areas. Delivering/ supporting the delivery of psychosocial support activities for children and adults. Leading the set up and implementation of child protection networks, through community mobilization and other information awareness sessions and training. Ensuring safe identification and referrals of beneficiaries to the available resources including the case management services. When needed, coordinating with other sectors functioning in SCI. Ensuring strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and child centred approach, acting for the best interests of the child. Conducting daily visits to partners to monitor proper project implementation according to approved project proposal, log frame and budget. Supporting in documenting data and progress of implementation based on the MEAL plan. Contributing to the partnership analysis and record of lessons learned.. Particular attention should be given to the building of a strong relationship with the local stakeholders. Ensuring constant reporting to the line manager. Adherence to Save the Children policies and procedures Complying with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE At least two years’ experience in working with children and community mobilisation, preferably in an (I) NGO . Bachelor’s degree Social Work or related sciences, Development/Humanitarian Studies. Understanding of national development issues. Ability to analyse information, identify challenges and ensure mitigations. Strength in interpersonal and communication skills.   Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good written and spoken English and/or French. Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours and capability to work in an insecure and volatile environment. Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches.
