Child Protection Assistant ( Tripoli )

Save the Children has been operating in Lebanon since 1999 and is recognized for its commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration.  Save the Children currently implements programs in Child Protection, Education, CRC, Health and Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihood, Shelter, and Emergency Response throughout Lebanon.   Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:     KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Programme Implementation Support Facilitate the implementation of the Child Protection in Emergencies programme (particularly recreational activities with children, awareness raising sessions with mothers, community mobilisation) under the supervision of the Child Protection Coordinator, ensuring smooth exchange between the SC child protection Team, beneficiaries and the community and providing technical support as needed. With the Child Protection in Emergencies team, contribute to establishing and implementing operational work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans per activity/programme site. Communicate the targets, programme objectives and activity plans clearly to partners, officers, parents and children, ensuring they are well understood. Liaise on a daily basis with partners, community. and Save the Children supervisors and colleagues to guarantee the smooth operation of the programmes. Work directly in the field with children, families and other stakeholders of the programme location/s. Provide information and advice beneficiaries on existing social services, referring them to partners when required. Assist in the organisation and implementation of awareness sessions for children, adolescents, parents and communities at large. Lead on outreach activities and assist in the organisation and implementation of trainings and workshops. Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the programme targeted children and programme objectives. Inform the direct supervisor about any difficulty met in the activities implementation. Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and a child centred approach and to act in the best interests of the child. Monitoring and Evaluation Participate in regular monitoring and evaluation activities of the Child Protection in Emergencies programme. Produce timely reports for internal use on the activities in each site/school, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learnt. Ensure that data is accurately collected on a weekly and monthly basis. Ensure accurate data entry Regularly visit project sites to ensure that the community at large are appropriately supported and that qualitative and quantitative programme objectives are achieved.   Adherence to Save the Children policies and procedures Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.   In agreement with your line manager, perform other duties within reason (in line with your skills and experience) SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS (our Values in Practice) Accountability: Is accountable for the implementation of the Child Protection in Emergency activities under the supervision of the Child Protection coordinator. Integrity: Is honest, encourages openness and transparency   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE At least two years’ experience in working with children and community mobilisation, preferably in an (I) NGO environment. Bachelor’s degree social work or related sciences, Development/Humanitarian Studies. Understanding of national development issues, in particular in relation to children and protection, and government institutions, particularly the public school. Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to plan strategically. Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good written and spoken English. Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours and capability to work in insecure volatile environment. Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches. Familiarity with Tripoli region an asset.
