Communication and Media Officer - Beirut

ROLE PURPOSE:

The post holder is responsible for managing INMA’A consortium media and communication activities.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Consortium Chief of Party

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Branding and Visibility

  • Maintains INMA’A partners branding identity and ensures visibility policy applies in coordination with partner field teams.
  • Reviews and approves visibility materials destined for an external audience, both for programme and administrative purposes, to ensure compliance with INMA’A and donor branding requirements including banners, flyers, booklets and other items intended for external use.
  • Together with the Advocacy and campaigns Manager, review all materials destined to external audiences, in particular major researches or communications materials, to ensure messaging and branding in line with advocacy messaging and branding requirements.

Social Media

  • Support media requests, together with the Chief of Party, determine spokespeople, messaging, and response.
  • Create and coordinate the content for INMA’A partners’ social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube).
  • Carry out media outreach activities around specific issues or activities (look for media coverage, exhibitions, events) to ensure positive coverage of human interest stories through INMA’A programme.
  • Coordinate and support the production of visual content (photos, and videos) for program related audio-visual in different thematic areas.
  • Coordinate the creation of INMA’A visibility items designs ensuring the alignment with the branding guidelines.
  • Facilitate the creation of films for INMA’A consortium from start to the end, including shooting, editing and liaising with copywriters.
  • Provide editorial guidance, ensuring messages conveyed through audio-visual products are sharp, compelling and current.
  • Handle outsourcing of audio-visual products as needed by identifying the best creative production partners, and maximise the quality of execution.
  • Coordinate the creation of graphics and multimedia files for use in social media, SCI Lebanon website, traditional media and INMA’A partners website and other platforms.

Capacity Building

  • Help focal points assigned to gather and share content in line with Safeguarding Children in Media & Comms Work guidelines.
  • Build partners’ capacity on using social media for campaigns and advocacy purposes.
  • Conduct media and communication trainings for consortium partners as needed (photo taking, case studies development, spokesperson, media guidelines etc.).

Communication

  • Lead the implementation of EU Madad communications and visibility plan.
  • Develop high-quality communications materials in English and Arabic for use in programme activities and for external use.
  • Facilitates the gathering and creation of multimedia, visual content (videos, photos, documentaries, infographics); for multi-purpose use in the country office, among members, on social media and on ad hoc basis to support strategic advocacy and campaign objectives.
  • In coordination with advocacy and media manager and Chief of party attend internal and external coordination meetings.

Documentation

  • Ensure that regular interviews and/or focus groups with children and families reached by EU Madad project are conducted with the aim of developing media and communication material.
  • Write quality short stories, blogs and case studies.
  • Facilitate and join media field visits, collect and share content from the visit in the format of photos and videos as per requests.
  • Contribute with content to regular campaigns and advocacy work as requested.
  • Ensure a proper management of a shared archiving platform for media related materials.
  • Support in writing regular reports summarizing the situation and project progress, as necessary.
  • Conduct or support needs and other types of documentations and reports, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in communication or journalism or any other relevant degrees in the study field.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Essential

  • At least 3 years of experience of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in facilitating the production, editing and disseminating multimedia content for online audiences ideally for media outlets, international brands, political parties, NGOs, or other international institution.
  • Excellent interviewing skills and ability to demonstrate understanding of the subject.
  • Strong experience in training groups of beneficiaries, including children and adults.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills are a must.
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Good experience in writing content for social media.
  • Proven experience in creating purposeful content for external use.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office).

Desirable

  • Experience using advanced tools for online publishing, including content management systems and social media authoring tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in using a professional camera, filming and sound equipment.
  • Graphic design skills.
  • Video editing skills.
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe Premiere Pro.
