Objective
To support the design and delivery of PSS interventions in SCI’s community centers in Bekaa.
Background
Save The Children is an international Non-Governmental Organisation working to save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them to fulfil their potential. In Lebanon, Save the Children is currently responding to the Syrian crisis, through the following sectors: child protection, education, shelter, food security and livelihoods and health.
As part of its child protection response to the Syrian Refugee Crisis, Save the Children International (SCI) aims to strengthen the resilience and psychosocial wellbeing of children and their parents through its community centers and related community based child protection activities. SCI is working with 25 communities across Lebanon, through both direct implementation and local implementing partners. Community based activities will include (i) playgroups for children under 3 years and caregivers, (ii) positive parenting, (iii) caregivers’ support groups, (iv) PSS activities for children 4-14 years and (v) PSS activities for adolescents and youth.
Assignment
This assignment involves supporting the design and delivery of PSS interventions in SCI’s community centres in Bekaa as follows:
PSS technical advice and implementation
Lead, and instruct others to lead, mother support group sessions and peer to peer sessions for youth and parents
Develop and deliver trainings to animators , volunteers, and youth facilitators based on identified needs and gaps
Supervise psychosocial activities and provide support when required
Assignment to be started immediately.
Consultant qualifications
Degree in teaching, social work or social sciences
Experience with psychosocial support programs
Extensive work experience of working directly with children
Excellent communication skills with children and their parents
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
Knowledge of the Lebanese and Syrian cultural context
