Food Security and Livelihoods Officer - Beirut

ROLE PURPOSE: The Food Security and Livelihoods Officer will ensure the implementation of Food Security and Livelihoods systems, and ensure that humanitarian needs (by our own staff and/or as a result of how we do our work) are identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. S/He will report and respond to interventions as determined by his/her position and responsibilities identified in Save the Children International strategy.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and ensure the Food Security and Livelihoods assistants follow the plans.
  • With his line manager develop phased budget based on planned activities according to the implementation plan.
  • Assist with the training of the Food Security and Livelihoods Assistants to ensure they have solid understanding of key programme documents and tools, including M&E questionnaires
  • Actively participate in the collection and analysis of information used to determine vulnerability, and create transparent targeting criteria, assist in data collection and analysis for beneficiary and community selection, as well as for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Monitor the work conducted by the Food Security and Livelihoods assistants in different sites where Save the Children International implements.
  • Support Food Security and Livelihoods assistants in their skills development and career growth through coaching and provision of trainings when applicable.
  • Contribute to the development of different tools needed for proper implementation of programmes such as (MOUS , FGDs, PDMs…etc)
  • Organize and conduct trainings for all programme beneficiaries.
  • Contribute to data entry, as needed.
  • Work with logistics to follow up on procurements within the procurement plan to ensure efficient implementation
  • Produce timely reports for internal use, and contribute to donor reports on the status of on-going programming
  • Act as a liaison between communities and the Save the Children office; maintain good relationships with beneficiaries and local leaders/authorities; and represent Save the Children while in the field
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Economics, International Relations, Development studies or similar field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in development programs, preferably working in food security and & livelihoods, and with experience in Community Support Projects.
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Good time management skills
  • Experience in data collection
  • Experience in field work and community mobilization; and in training groups of beneficiaries
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Computer skills (especially Excel)
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment 
  • Available to travel in country

  • Cash and voucher programming
  • Food Security & Livelihood in emergencies
  • Familiarity with refugee communities in country of operation
  • Adolescent and Youth programming
  • Community-based participatory approach
