Grants Manager

Support the delivery of effective Programmes, in both development and humanitarian contexts, by: Controlling the      implementation of compliance requirements set by key donors; Ensuring      all grant monitoring and tracking systems are working effectively and are      consistent with country programme strategy and global Save the Children grant      management protocols and best practice; Providing      budget holders and line managers with appropriate training in donor      guidelines, compliance issues, field budgeting systems and Save the      Children grant management procedures and best practice, while also ensuring      that this forms part of new staff induction programmes; Liaising      closely with other Finance Officers and budget holders, both at national      and regional level, to support the analysis of monthly variance and the      coordination of budget realignments requests to donors; Overseeing      the compilation of grant management statistics, including grant tracking      templates and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and reporting findings to      the Finance and Support Services Manager on a monthly basis; Ensuring      that all proposals, contracts and amendments are appropriately authorized,      that new grants documentation is properly registered and updated on AMS      and that any issues with the grant management system are addressed      promptly and effectively; Maintaining      grants income and debt-tracking schedules, ensuring timely collection of      due donor income and release of Income Claims, Financial Reports, and      Narratives to donors; Ensuring      adequate internal control systems are in place and all procurement      procedures are consistently implemented to effectively utilize grants and      all Save the Children assets; Working      closely with the Programme Managers, Project Managers and Finance team in      the preparation of budgets, linking them to donor reporting formats; Supporting      programme staff in the preparation of timely, achievable, high-quality      proposals and budgets to ensure that donor requirements are met; Preparing      comprehensive donor reports for the Senior Management Team (SMT), and advising      on the development of an overall funding strategy and the preparation of      operational plans to identify actual or potential funding gaps and opportunities; Representing the      principles and work of Save the Children to donors, United Nations, NGOs      and INGOs, government, media and other stakeholders when required; Complying with and      promoting all Save the Children Global policies such as Child      Safeguarding, Whistle blowing, Fraud, and Health and Safety Qaulification and  Experience: Essential: University degree in finance, accounting or other related academic discipline; Postgraduate specialisation in accountancy – e.g. (in possession or working towards) ACCA/CIMA qualification – or comparable professional experience; Minimum 4 years relevant grant management experience in a large international non-governmental organisation or other international relief/development body with a variety of funding sources; In-depth knowledge of grant management, the uses and presentation of financial information, and of compliance requirements for major donors, including USAID, ECHO, EU and UN; Demonstrable track-record in the creation and dissemination of high-quality project proposals and financial narratives for a range of stakeholder audiences; Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities; Strong communication, and interpersonal skills in English, with the ability to operate as part of a team in a multicultural, values driven work environment; Computer literate, particularly in the use of accounting and grant management packages and spreadsheets; Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments; Commitment to Save the Children  global policies and values.     Desirable: Experience managing grants of a large emergency programme with a variety of funding sources.
