Project Manager - Adolescents

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 2 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have some contact with or access to children or young people
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Beirut Field Office Area Manager

Staff directly reporting to this post: Child Rights Governance Coordinator, two Child Protection Officers, and one Food Security and Livelihoods Officer.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation:

· Oversee the overall implementation of the project with a focus on ensuring targets are met within the specified budget.

· Ensure effective management of the project (including budget management) and develop and monitor work plans.

· Guarantee a safe programming approach and ensure risk assessments and mitigation plans are in place for child safeguarding.

· Work closely with logistics and human resources teams to ensure procurement and recruitment plans are in place, respectively, and ensure relevant follow-up. 

· Prepare timely project and donor reports, in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.

· Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure the effective monitoring and evaluation of the project, and to put in place accountability measures, ensuring that feedback from all relevant stakeholders is considered in project design.

· Identify opportunities and material to contribute to communications and media work, and support the facilitation of media visits.

· Ensure that minimum standards are maintained in accordance with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, the Inter-Agency Case Management Guidelines, the Sphere Charter and Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies Minimum Standards.
 

Programme Design:

· Work closely with the Area Manager on the identification of gaps in the project, and provide input into the development of high quality concept notes, proposals, and budgets related to adolescents.

· Work with relevant Technical Advisors to develop innovative approaches to refine the project as needed.

Team Management and Capacity Building:

· Assess training needs within the project team and develop an overall capacity building plan.

· Provide regular constructive feedback to direct reports, following SCI’s Performance management procedures, and support direct reports in performance management of their team members.

 

Partnership Management:

· Responsible for the identification of and management of local partners under the project.

· Support in the completion of partner assessments and work closely with partners on development of proposals and budgets for their sub-award agreements.

· Provide continuous programme management and facilitate technical support to partners to ensure timely quality programming.

· Work with HR/Finance/Logs teams to ensure partners are receiving adequate support from support sections

 

Coordination and Representation:

· Ensure that Save the Children's work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies, ensuring the specific needs of adolescents are being addressed.

· Represent Save the Children in relevant for a.

· Ensure community acceptance and maintain engagement with local government (municipalities and relevant local representatives of ministries).

 

General:

· Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, safety and security, anti-harassment, and other relevant policies and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

· Significant project management experience.

· Degree in Political Studies, Social Work, Human Rights Law, International Relations, Development Studies, or other relevant field. Equivalent field experience will also be considered.

· Demonstrated experience in successfully project delivery in humanitarian or development contexts.

· Experience in coordination with local and international NGOs, representation with donors and humanitarian actors.  

· Previous experience managing teams, including staff training and capacity building of organisational staff and partner staff

· Flexible, adaptable, ability to improvise

· Fluency in English (written and verbal)
