The Opportunity
The Program Manager will oversee the strategic direction of the Shelter and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program in East Area and Central and South Area offices, undertaking needs assessments; monitoring progress and evaluations, adapting existing programming to changing needs; and undertaking program development (design and proposal development). This role is required to provide leadership to the Shelter and WASH program. The post will be primarily office based, but will be expected to regularly join the field teams during assessments and implementation. S/he will coordinate the day-to-day activities of the projects implemented in the East Area and Central and South Area offices, ensuring that they are implemented effectively and efficiently according to the donor and SCL’s guidelines and procedures for project governance applicable for the projects. The Program Manager will be expected to present SCL and the Shelter/WASH program at a regional and national level.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Urban Planning, Mechanical or other built environment related field or
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields with more than seven years of progressive experience including two years in similar role.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Seven years of progressive experience of humanitarian Shelter and WASH programming; experience in humanitarian shelter, Disaster Risk Reduction, sphere standards and humanitarian principles, including three years in management position.
- Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Previous experience of liaising with the UN, national and donor governments and NGOs as advantage.
- Economic recovery programming in humanitarian response.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team in a humanitarian context.
