Shelter Assistant

ROLE PURPOSE: The Shelter Assistant will be responsible for conducting all types of Assessments, Community Mobilization, Outreach Activities and Distribution within shelter activities. Current Emergency Shelter and NFI activities include:   Winterisation. Distribution of Quick Fix kits (QFK’s) to households living in sub-standard shelters. Rehabilitation. Cash-for-rehabilitation in Unfinished Houses. New Arrival Support. Distribution of Non Food Items (NFI’s) and Shelter kits. Site Improvements. Supporting site improvements in Informal Settlements. Infrastructure Support. Supporting other infrastructure or construction-related activities being implemented by the other programs (E.g. rehabilitation of schools, community improvement projects etc.) KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Under the supervision of the Shelter Officer, the Shelter Assistant will perform the following duties and responsibilities:   Assessment: Conduct beneficiary household vulnerability      assessments. Provide beneficiary households with      information about the Shelter Program and other SC Lebanon activities Make referrals to other programs and agencies.   Community Mobilization: Lead Community Mobilisation activities. Liaise with community leaders and landlords. Refer to the Shelter Officer any protection      concerns identified in the field. Conduct regular planned visits to      beneficiaries.   Distribution: Coordinate with Warehouse Officer and      Warehouse Assistant to prepare trucking and loading plans. Establish distribution plan according to      logistical means and progammes requirements. Prepare distribution site and ensure that it      is clean and adequate. Liaise with local leaders and land lords to      ease distribution. Liaise with Warehouse officer to return all      remaining good to Save the Children warehouses.   General: Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports, as      requested. Comply with Save the Children policies and      practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and      safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures. Assist in any additional tasks assigned by the      shelter officer that are in line with job profile. Conduct Post Distribution Monitoring. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES Experience Minimum 1 years of work experience. Experience in working with at-risk children      and families. Skills Minimum diploma OR bachelor’s degree in Social      Work or similar fields. Familiar with Humanitarian principles. Experience in community mobilisation,      conducting outreach activities, assessments, and/or distribution. Understanding of social welfare systems and      child protection mechanisms. Proficiency on Microsoft Word, Outlook and      Excel, including management of Excel databases. Good time management and organizational skills. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic (English      language skills advantageous). Strength in interpersonal, communication and      presentation skills and teamwork. Flexibility and willingness to change work      practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment.  Familiarity with the relevant geographic areas.
