ROLE PURPOSE: (this role is dependent on funding)
Lebanonnow has the largest number of Syrian Refugees. As of 21th November there are 127,420 registered refugees or refugees awaiting registration (UNHCR). With the winter months now upon us winter preparedness is essential. Families displaced by the fighting arrive with few belongings and with inadequate access to essential needs including housing, water, food, and healthcare. SCI is highly concerned for refugees, returnees and vulnerable host communities, particularly children, as the winter approaches. The shelter and non-food item situation for children and their families affected by the crisis is barely satisfactory at present – whether living in tents in camps, or in crowded host community houses, or occupying unsuitable buildings, this shelter will not provide the warmth and protection over the next 3-6 months. Needs are likely to sharply increase as the winter approaches and as the refugee influx increases. If not met, these needs will result in critical threats to health, nutrition and protection – especially for children
Save the Children is assisting vulnerable families to prepare themselves for the winter months. Essential non-food and shelter items are being provided through voucher programmes. An essential component of this programming is collecting data from beneficiaries during registration and monitoring; all data must be entered into a database to facilitate analysis.
