Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:
ROLE PURPOSE: The Youth Social Worker will work with the Adolescent Officer, Youth Centre Coordinator and Senior Community Mobilisation Officer to support the youth programme in the Bekaa through case work, youth outreach and community engagement, and mentoring and direct youth support.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
The key roles and responsibilities for the Youth Social Worker are:
Case Management:
Identify, assess, document, refer (to relevant services) and follow-up of at-risk children, youth and families (Case Management)
Identification and documentation of psycho-social and socio-economic needs of the beneficiaries.
Submit reports weekly reports concerning implemented outreach activities and cases
Participate in weekly case management and coordination meetings
Maintain files, registers, computer databases and records in paper or electronic format
Work as a member of a team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that a proper management of the case is preserved
Provide information and arrange social counseling for individual cases, namely children and adolescents at risk and parents in need of support
Provide information and advise the beneficiaries on existing social services and how to access them
Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of child protection risks, with particular attention on refugee children and youth, children and youth of host-families and returnees and other vulnerable/at-risk children and youth
Youth Outreach and Community Engagement:
Rôles et responsabilités :Support the Senior Community Mobilization Officer to develop and implement a strategy of the engagement of children and communities in prevention and response to issues that affect children’s wellbeing
Implement awareness raising sessions with adolescents, youth and parents in the community
Support coordination with partners, community structures and SC staff to support youth in implementation of community improvement projects
Mentoring and direct youth support:
Provide mentoring and coaching as required to adolescents and youth within SC Youth Centres and during livelihoods activities
General:
Participate actively in implementing Monitoring and Evaluation processes in the Youth and Community Centres
Ensure quality and minimum child protection standards are implemented and respected in all youth activities, including child safeguarding policy.
Share information on field-level successes and challenges with the Child Protection Coordinator
Document best case practices and case studies
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in teaching, social work or social sciences
Work experience of working directly with adolescents
Excellent communication skills with adolescents and parents
Ability to work under pressure
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
