Psychosocial Consultant for Children & Caregivers

SUMMARY

SAWA is looking for a highly qualified psychologist who is experienced in the field of Psychological/Psychosocial support. The primary purpose of this consultation is to provide psychosocial support to selected children and their caregivers. A psychosocial consultant is responsible for providing diagnostic assessments, therapy, counseling, and support services for the children and caregivers.

RESPONSIBILITIES, MAIN DUTIES AND REPORTING:
  1. Assess the children' mental condition based on referral data and information provided by the staff (assessment of the psychological health of the children).
  2. Conduct consultation sessions with the children.
  3. Provide psychological consultations to the children.
  4. Provie therapeutical sessions to the children based on their condition.
  5. Provide consultation sessions to the children’s caregivers.
  6. Maintain confidentiality of records and information collected.
  7. Report all cases to the PM.
REPORTS TO: 

Project Manager

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:
  • 3+ years’ experience with providing diagnostic assessment and therapy services to a full range of individuals from youth through adulthood
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Psychosocial support, Psychiatry or other related field.
  • Proven experience working in challenging situation;
  • Experience in working for an NGO/ humanitarian organization preferable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Good capacity to interact with members of the team and different communities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Must be able to work flexible work schedule
  • Ability to guide, direct, or influence people
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client.
  • Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
Employment Conditions:
  • Contract duration:  8 days;
  • Required Starting Date:  April 2022
