Search for Common Ground (SFCG), UNESCO and UNFPA seek an experienced consultant to conduct a study on youth initiatives in Lebanon for an event that will be held in the beginning of August. The study and subsequent report should be completed by the 31st of July 2014.
Under the direct supervision of UNESCO,UNFPA and SFCG Lebanon, the consultant will:
1) Undertake a desk research process to collect information about the youth initiatives led by local and international organizations in Lebanon, including the identification of best practices (. The research must include concrete evidence/examples of how young people are positively contributing to a more peaceful Lebanon and/or to manage the Syrian refugee crisis in constructive ways.
2) Conduct field visits and interviews with the organizations demonstrating best practices in engaging youth in Lebanon in order to strengthen the information from the desk research.
3) Select the most significant projects that can be used as case studies in the launching event to showcase concrete examples of how the Guiding Principles can be operationalized in Lebanon.
4) Provide recommendations on how to mainstream the Guiding Principles in the Lebanese context according to the existing best practices and lessons learned from the different actors engaging with youth.
5) Prepare a presentation for the selected 2 to 3 models to evaluate the extent to which the youth initiatives operationalized the guidelines in the Lebanese context for the launching event (This can be through a table that compares program best practices and the Guiding Principles).
