Founded in 1982, Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is the largest dedicated international non-governmental organization working in the field of conflict transformation. Operating within 34 countries, SFCG uses creative, multi-faceted approaches to help divided communities understand differences while working toward commonalities. SFCG has been working in Lebanon since 2008 and works to promote social cohesion through a combination of leadership initiatives, journalism, and conflict sensitivity training.   Search for Common Ground has made Design, Monitoring & Evaluation (DM&E) a priority within the organization. As an agency, the Institutional Learning Team and country programs are upgrading techniques, skills, and expectations in the area of DM&E to further improve our ability to design, monitor, conduct and evaluate intelligent, effective and meaningful programs to make our mission a reality.   Summary of Position The SFCG Lebanon program is seeking short-term Data Collection Assistants (consultancy position) to help implement a population survey in Tripoli region and in the South of Lebanon.   Data Collection Assistant Responsibilities   Data collectors will be responsible for: Attending a 1-day training on survey data collection 10 days of work conducting community level surveys for both Lebanese and Syrian communities during the month of November   Minimum Qualifications Essential: Some university schooling, Bachelor’s Degree preferred Fluency in Arabic Strong listening skills and attention to detail High level of personal accountability and responsibility Strong listening and analytical skills Ability to travel and work long hours for the 10-day period Availability during the month of November 2013   Highly Desirable: Fluency in English 2 or more years work experience University coursework or degree in psychology, sociology, social work, international affairs, or related topic Previous training in or exposure to data collection, gender sensitivity, conflict resolution, or other relevant topics Experience working with international NGOs
