I. Organization Overview
Search for Common Ground (Search) is a non-governmental organization working to transform the way societies deal with conflicts. For more information, visit www.sfcg.org and https://www.facebook.com/sfcg.lebanon.
II. Intervention Summary
Search is implementing a project entitled “Peace Pioneers. The project aims to stimulate Lebanese private sector engagement in peacebuilding. In order to achieve this, the project has the following specific outcomes:
1) Increased understanding for key stakeholders on how the private sector in Lebanon can contribute to peacebuilding; and
2) Strengthened working relationships between private sector and peacebuilding actors in Lebanon around shared values.
The aim of this initiative will be the launch of a process whereby Lebanese private sector stakeholders – including corporations and wealthy individuals –, in collaboration with the Lebanese civil society stakeholders, are able to employ a common ground approach in how they operate, contribute to addressing the challenges in Lebanon, and take on a leadership role in promoting peacebuilding in the country. The project will then unfold along two primary pillars - one focused on the opportunities and impact of peacebuilding work, and the other on untapped resources and the potential of private sector engagement along civil society. Search will identify and consult with leaders in both fields, and then facilitate synergies between the two groups in order to achieve the project aim of stimulating private sector engagement in peacebuilding in Lebanon.
III. Workshop Objectives
Peace Pioneers activities will include the following two workshops, with the overall goal of increasing the understanding for key stakeholders on how the private sector in Lebanon can contribute to peacebuilding; and to strengthen working relationships between private sector and peacebuilding actors in Lebanon around shared values.

v Innovation Workshop 2 – Up to 30 interested private sector and CSOs stakeholders who participated in the Workshop 1 will meet to (1) further develop cross-sector relationships, (2) jointly identify entry points for mutual engagement, and (3) outline a joint action plan for future collaboration.
Each workshop will be systematically adapted to the level of knowledge and the needs of the participants, with the goal of facilitating new dialogue processes, developing common understanding of peacebuilding needs and specificities in Lebanon and initiating collaboration mechanisms as a first step in enhancing opportunities for partnership between peacebuilders and the private sector in Lebanon.
