Project Manager

Search for Common Ground (Search) is a non-governmental organization working to transform the way the world deals with conflict. Search first worked in Lebanon in 1996, addressing multiple issues arising within Lebanon's diverse society. Summary of Position

Search is seeking some to manage a project working within Lebanon’s prison system, with an aim to bring together all the relevant stakeholders inside and outside the prison to work together to reduce the risk of violent extremism in prison and aid in the reintegration of prisoners to society. The Project Manager will work closely with prison authorities and local authorities, and oversee day-to-day operations and implement the project’s activities, ensuring that the program is on time, within budget, and delivers high-quality results.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of project activities in a timely manner ensuring good quality action and credible outcomes;
  • Provide guidance related to reducing the risk of violent extremism in prison and reintegration of prisoners into society;
  • Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with key partner civil society organizations, authorities and local communities;
  • Oversee communications activities for the project;
  • Responsible for the management and reporting on project activities, ensuring timely grant reporting and compliance with contract and donor guidelines in coordination with the local partners;
  • Develop and maintain project records such as databases, reports and records of decisions;
  • Implement the financial and administrative systems necessary for the execution of the project; and
  • Ensure compliance with Search’s policies and procedures.

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related area, preferably in conflict resolution, peacebuilding, penology or related area (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of related experience in project management.
  • Experience working in prisons is a major asset.
  • Experience working on violent extremism issues is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners;
  • Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations;
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail;
