We are searching for…

Senior Trainer - Theater for Peacebuilding to work in Akkar and West Bekaa to help in the implementation of arts-based social cohesion and capacity building activities for Syrian and Lebanese young youth. Through arts-based activities, young participants will develop empathy and learn effective communication skills to seek collaborative means of addressing conflict.

The Senior Trainer will coach and monitor junior trainers (previous participants from the project) to design and implement a total of 10 Theater for peacebuilding workshops in Akkar and in Bekaa (5 workshops in each area).

Your contribution

The roles and responsibilities will include:

Coordinate and support the junior trainers to be able to submit a detailed work plan for 5 workshops (in each area);

Attend a 2 days’ workshop in Beirut to work with the junior trainers on drafting the detailed workplan;

Shadow and support the junior trainers while they are conducting the 5 workshops (in Akkar and  West Bekaa) based on a schedule presented by Search;

Support the junior trainers in creating a pre-test and a post-evaluation test to be filled by the participants before and after the activities;

Submit a final report to Search on the performance of the junior trainers and their progress during the working period;

Support the junior trainers in the organization of a final event in each area where the artwork will be presented;

Maintain regular and transparent communication with the junior trainers and Search’s field officers.

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

 

You are…

The Senior trainer should meet the following requirements

At least 3 years of experience in delivering theater for peace building workshops

Show flexibility, motivation and inspirational spirit;

Maintain transparent communication at all times with Search’s team in order to tackle challenges together and reach a common understanding (regarding participants, junior trainers, logistics, etc.);

Provide constant support to the junior trainers on both professional and personal levels;

Experience in arts for peacebuilding is required;

Demonstrated coaching experience specially with youth from different backgrounds;

Geographical knowledge and easy access to the community centres in Akkar and West Bekaa;

Good problem solving techniques;

Good communication skills;

Willingness and ability to be flexible;

Be rigorous, precise, calm and polite; and

Excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit.
