Team Leader – Fursa

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is a non-governmental organization working to transform the way societies deal with conflicts. We have acquired over 30 years of experience in peacebuilding and are based in 53 local offices worldwide. SFCG first worked in Lebanon in 1996, and we opened up our office here in 2008. The issues we address are multiple, such as conflicts arising within Lebanon's diverse society, tensions resulting from the increasing influx of Syrian refugees, security sector reform, as well as women’s socio-economic empowerment. In each project we seek to engage all stakeholders and strengthen local capacities in order to create sustainable change and increase social cohesion.
Summary of Position
The Team Leader will be responsible for leading a consortium led by SFCG with two other INGOs as co-applicants in implementing a project whose goal is to strengthen community resilience and cohesion among Syrian refugee youth and host community youth in Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey.
The Team Leader will work closely with consortium partners, local authorities, and community stakeholders. The Team Leader will coordinate overall implementation of the project’s activities in the 3 countries of operation, ensuring that the program is on-time, within budget, and delivers high-quality results. This includes providing a regular presence with stakeholders and networking contacts with local government, international and local agencies as well as community stakeholders. The Team Leader will be responsible for managing SFCG staff and resources devoted to this project in conformity with Lebanese law and SFCG’s internal operating practices. S/he will also ensure harmonisation of approaches across the 3 implementing agencies as well as engage project teams in all countries to ensure that there is consistency in the goal and objectives across the consortium. S/he will also collaborate closely with the SFCG Beirut office, the MENA team, as well as trainers and technical experts working on the project to ensure the deliverables are of high quality, and delivered in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Lead the project teams; give strategic guidance; ensure coordination and motivation of the team; address health and well-being of the team and among partners; and ensure quality assurance.
Ensure project delivery teams are structured, staffed, resourced and motivated effectively to enable achievement of agreed project goals.
Lead the development and management of senior relationships with the donor, key agencies, partners and individuals, as required, to support the achievement of the project plan.
Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with consortium partners, other NGOs, donors, politicians, key government officials, civil society groups, religious groups, and media outlets.
Identify and maintain relations with local organisations and local authorities to ensure sustainability of the action.
Oversee the implementation of activities to achieve agreed outcomes and outputs in logical framework and liaise with stakeholders on the design and implementation.
Take overall responsibility for the timely delivery of results.
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
Developing and overseeing inception and development phases for projects, including recognised tools such as logical frameworks, theories of change and impact frameworks.
Ensuring the project is monitored effectively, that data is reported to the donor, risks are highlighted and that lessons are learned from the experience of delivering the project by the project team, partners and other significant stakeholders.
Prepare technical reports (including financial reporting) for the donor and the Steering Committee.
Financial management
Ensure the project is managed and delivered in accordance with all agreed financial standards and targets, taking remedial action where required.
Risks and Compliance
Evaluate a range of geo-political and operational risks and make appropriate changes to plans and/or resourcing, as necessary, to mitigate potential difficulties and optimise performance
Ensure the project meets all relevant internal and external compliance and donor requirements (financial, HR, quality management, regulatory, security etc.), to ensure that SFCG and all project partners operate legally, with integrity, and in a way that manages risk effectively.

Requirements and Qualifications
Lebanese citizen (please note that this is a local position).
Master’s degree in Development, Political Science, International Affairs, Social Sciences or other relevant subject.
Proven project management skills, preferably within the framework of EU interventions.
Strong financial management skills.
At least 5 years of experience working in conflict sensitive environments.
At least 5 years of general professional experience in sectors relevant to the project.
Proven track record of experience in managing large scale programmes involving three or more partners in conflict sensitive and political complex countries.
Demonstrated experience with various aspects of the EU mechanisms including managing EU funded projects.
Previous training experience in conflict transformation, mediation, NVC, leadership, dialogue facilitation is a strong advantage.
Proven knowledge of the social and political landscape in the project’s implementation countries (Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey).
Experience working in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Proven knowledge in the Syrian crisis and its impact inside Syria and in host countries.
A high degree of competence in writing technical reports.
Experience of being accountable for developing/managing procedures for projects operating in fluid, high-risk contexts.
Proven track record of experience in managing at least two projects in conflict sensitive and political complex countries including remote management in the area of, or related to peace building and reconciliation, economic recovery, youth development, livelihood and/or social cohesion.
