I. Intervention Summary
SFCG Lebanon is implementing a 12-month project entitled “Establishing dialogue and local conflict response mechanisms in Lebanon,” funded by UNOCHA. The project aims to create conditions that are conducive to future dialogue and collaboration between stakeholders in addressing tensions between and within communities. The overarching idea behind the project is to mitigate tensions between host communities and refugees through social cohesion and social stability actions. To build mechanisms at the local level that address tensions between host and refugee communities, SFCG will engage individuals from both communities, as well as legitimate and trustworthy local stakeholders, to jointly address conflicts.
II. Training Objectives
A key component of the “Establishing dialogue and local conflict response mechanisms in Lebanon” project approach is capacity building training sessions on topics such as non-violent communication and conflict sensitivity. The overall objective of these trainings is to increase the conflict sensitivity between host communities and refugees and strengthen their ability to provide services without exacerbating existing tensions. The specific objective is to build the skills of the host community members, municipality members, police, and local and international actors to enhance their ways of dealing with tensions, develop effective communication skills, and improve rumour management skills. Developing these skillsets will allow participants to communicate their needs and interests as well as deconstruct their own prejudices and stereotypes and thus, start acting as bridges across conflict divides.
Capacity building trainings will be split into two tracks:
Ø Community Members + Municipalities
A curriculum focused on non-violent communication and dialogue capacities. Aimed at strengthening vertical cohesion and the ability of local government and the community to work together in peaceful, constructive ways. The trainings will be systematically adapted to the level of knowledge and the needs of the participants. One 3-day training session will be held in each of the 10 targeted communities.
Ø Local + International Organizations
A curriculum focused on conflict sensitivity and dialogue capacities. Aimed at strengthening the ability of local and international organizations to carry out their work in conflict environments in a way that fosters non-violent, collaborative approaches. Five 3-day trainings will be held in total.

SFCG is seeking to contract 3 trainers and 3 co-trainers for the community members + municipalities track, and 3 trainers and 3 co-trainers for the local + international organizations track.
