Position: Social Worker – Lebanon
Base: Beirut with regular movements mainly in Mount Lebanon.
Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is an apolitical neutral organization whose objective is to provide immediate and long-term support to vulnerable population affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts and other types of crisis.
SIF has been present in Lebanon since 2012, implementing projects aiming at distributing assistance to the Syrian refugee populations affected by the conflict in Lebanon. This program allowed SIF contributing to the improvement of the well-being of the children and their families
In response to the current crisis in Syria, and the growing numbers of refugees coming to Lebanon, SIF is expending its humanitarian response and will scale-up its emergency support to Syrian refugees and affected population. In view of SIF operation scale up SIF is currently recruiting a Social Worker to begin immediately.
The Social Worker will be based in Beirut with frequent travel to Mount Lebanon, he/her will support SIF’s main office in Beirut. Furthermore, the Social Worker will be in contact with other SIF members to harmonize and share tools as well as lessons learnt.
The Social Worker is part of the Cash Program team of SIF-Lebanon and will be under the line management of the Project Manager.
MISSION CONTEXT
SIF project with the provision of basic assistance and the promotion of social protection mechanisms aim to prevent economically vulnerable households from slipping deeper into poverty.
The proposed project will be implemented based on a coordinated approach between SIF and other operational actors. This action will build on SIF's extensive knowledge and experience of the context in order to ease the acceptance of its program while building the capacity of local community. SIF is providing information on available services in the area of intervention through its dedicated referral focal points and dissemination of leaflets, including on legal awareness, birth and marriage certification, health services. Through an external referral mechanism, SIF will provide a wide range of services internally to SIF programs.
Furthermore, as part of a longer term strategy aiming at supporting and reinforcing resilience of local stakeholders, the action includes a strong capacity building & strengthening component targeting SDC and local stakeholders on protection, child protection, referral pathway and mechanism, conflict resolution etc.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
Provide social support to Syrian children refugees and their families at the home and in the Child friendly spaces level;
Conduct community outreach and home visits;
Organize card distribution when needed
Conduct phone verification to beneficiaries.
Conduct PDM at HH level
Work directly with the Program Manager and Field team, to develop intervention plans and follow up in the CFS and at the home;
Identify new children, women or families within the community to be assessed and included in the SIF program.
Collect information about visited vulnerable families through interviews, observation, and assessment carried out via outreach home visits;
Collect data and referrals from the field level (e.g. Municipalities, L/INGOs, Focal Points, UNHCR)
The Social Workers will be an essential source of providing accurate referrals when need be (i.e., the Social Worker will refer patient to hospitals and centers; in addition to other local NGOs and INGOs and will receive referral from others stakeholders);
Complete intake assessments, evaluations, reviews, and other documentation as necessary;
Awareness raising on the services available in Mount Lebanon (provided by SIF and from others NGO);
Attend weekly or biweekly meetings in Beirut or in the field with the PM and Program Coordinator
REPRESENTATION
Represent SIF vis-à-vis local authorities, for all issues linked to the program in coordination with the PM and Program Coordinator
Participate actively to program coordination and to relevant meetings on the topic;
TEAM MANAGEMENT
Ensure feed back towards your team about issues potentially raised by them and in the field;
Ensure a good communication – coordination – information level of each member of your team through regular coordination meetings (or other if needed);
You ensure conflict resolution (personal and professional) within your team and inform the Head of Mission;
REPORTING
Reports directly to SIF’s Beirut Office, the Project Manager. S/he will submit the following reports at the end of each week:
Centralize all information gathered in the field and consolidate a daily report (into the proper reporting format) to be delivered to the Project Manager;
The Narrative Report which includes: the number of beneficiaries, actions taken, number of house-visits conducted, awareness raising activities, number of people attending the session with breakdown per age group and gender;
Weekly update – numbers of beneficiaries and households visited segregated by age, gender, needs and vulnerability (i.e. living in very poor conditions and other);
Provide regular reporting on your activities to the Head of Mission and Programme Coordinator upon his/her solicitation
