CONTEXT

 

Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD) is a French non-governmental organization founded in 1988 and operating in the field of social and economic development in partnership with local institutions. IECD’s main sectors of action are vocational training and professional integration, assistance to very small enterprises and access to education for the most vulnerable persons.

IECD has been operating in Lebanon since 1994 and it opened a regional office in Beirut in 2007, in partnership with Semeurs d’Avenir.

Among its projects, the entrepreneurship program has been running in North Lebanon, Beirut ML and South and accompanying very small entrepreneurs and startups since 2010.

IECD Implemented a needs assessment, and it revealed the needs of technical training in the field of food processing (good manufacturing and hygiene practices) to its beneficiaries working in different domain such as dairies, jam’s, pickles and frozen production.

 IECD and Semeurs d’Avenir are looking for a consultant who can provide trainings content and methodology answering the needs of the beneficiaries and facilitate these trainings

 

MISSIONS 

The technical food processing expert will be responsible for:

  • Identifying the needs of the program’s beneficiaries working in agricultural and food processing field
  • Defining a training methodology and content answering the identified needs
  • Facilitating the training
  • Providing tools to assess the quality of the training and the level of understanding of the beneficiaries

 

Topics to be covered by the training(s) according to the needs assessment

  • Best practices to prevent cross contamination
  • Dairy: focus on Laban production, cheese production (mozzarella, halloumi, Akkawi…), food safety for dairy products
  • Technologies needed to quantify and qualify the production.
  • Best practices on packaging and labeling

Give general introduction to dairy work include food safety for dairy produce with focus on Laban [MB1] 

PROFILE

 

Education:  Specialist in Food sciences and technology, Agro engineer specialist in Food processing or any related major  

 

Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in delivering training and/or working in food processing and production. Previous experience working with international organization under support to micro-SME’s program is preferable.

 

Required skills and competencies:

 

  • Good knowledge of the Lebanese Market needs in terms of food production.
  • Good Facilitation skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to adapt with different personalities.
  • Build good relations with trainees and understand their needs.

Job Location: Lebanon especially in the North, and maybe in the South. [MB2] [HA3] 

Contract Type: Consultancy

Contract Duration: till end of 2022 (till end of 2022 (extendable depending on fund and performance)

Payments: Financial and technical proposal to be submitted.
