Job Description

  • Conducting legal analysis and researching legal matters.
  • Providing advice on legal matters.
  • Drafting legal opinions, memoranda, and briefing documents.
  • Reviewing legal material.
  • Provide the consolidation and harmonization of all legal activities being implemented by the legal unit/team across all areas of implementation, with an emphasis on maintaining and improving program quality.
  • Provide direct technical support and oversight to higher management to ensure quality is delivered at field level and accurate reporting in accordance with SHEILD and donor regulations. 
  • Ensure all interventions are in compliance with SHEILDs strategic action plan, protection mainstreaming framework, protection standards, and national policies.
  • Collaboratively manage and support the development of project monitoring frameworks, project review, and adaptation, review reporting, and support coordination with other actors and government stakeholders
  • Undertake regular field monitoring visits to assess progress and identify technical quality issues and/or other implementation issues, provide solutions and support implement modifications as required if need be
  • Represent SHEILD in high-level or strategic meetings related to legal issues if need be.
  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.

 

Job Qualifications

  • A university degree in Lebanese penal law
  • Minimum 5 years work and practical experience in legal representation of penal cases and knowledge of early legal intervention mechanisms
  • Demonstrated previous work with minors at early detention phases is an asset
  • Computer, Microsoft office skills is a must
  • English language is preferable
  • Excellent reporting skills in regard to legal cases processed
  • Strong personality and ability to create networks and establish relations within the prisons and detention sector in designated areas is essential
