About the Protection Project:
Since November 2012 SHEILD has been implementing a protection project funded by the UNHCR, focusing on Syrian asylum seekers in the South of Lebanon. The project includes: NFIs to vulnerable refugees; financial assistance to vulnerable refugees; life skills training for refugees; awareness sessions for refugee men, women, youth and children about protection topics; protection presence in distributions, social development centers and other community centers; individual counseling/psycho-social support (house visits) to refugees in need; case management of vulnerable cases/families; protection monitoring
Tasks of the Senior Protection Officer:
Monitor and report on protection and security incidents in South Lebanon
Oversight of protection activities conducted by the protection assistants and protection monitors (including awareness sessions regarding protection issues, case management, counseling/psycho-social support, household interviews, community level interviews)
Identify, recommend and provide guidance and appropriate follow up for vulnerable, complex or otherwise special cases (such as SGBV survivors, child protection issues, high risk cases).
Follow the progress of the cases managed and followed by the protection assistants, report towards referring organization where necessary.
Support and report to project manager and senior management in coordination and management of protection activities of the project.
Serve as focal point and liaise with partner organizations
Manage donor relations and engage with multiple stakeholders
Weekly and monthly reporting responsibilities
Provide guidance, mentorship and evaluations of staff.
Where necessary identify areas for growth and coordinate capacity building activities
Represent the organization in regional and national level coordination meetings
Coordinate field activities, manage complex issues, multitask and adapt to constantly evolving social and political context
Reporting
Maintain a database of all relevant information
Ensure project documents are properly filed and kept secure
Data Management and synthesis for weekly and monthly reports
Qualifications and experience required:
- Applicant MUST have a protection background with at least 2 years experience in emergency response
- University degree in social work or related field
- Fluent in English and working knowledge of Arabic
