Senior Livelihood Officer (Syrian Nationality Applicants)

 

 

Description

  • Collaborate with project team, local partners, local body and community leaders to support following-up livelihood interventions and activities on a daily basis.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships and communication with relevant, partner, local authorities, services providers, and communities, explaining the nature of the project and liaising with them throughout the project.
  • Ensure that the implementation of livelihood interventions is functional and adhered to the project’s principles.
  • Design, develop and provide necessary trainings for target communities to develop skills and capacities for crisis resilient livelihood strategies to improve household productivity and income (related to small business development). If requested
  • Oversee and create a community-based oversight system for all livelihood restoration and new livelihood development works.
  • Provide technical support to the project manager and livelihood project team in general.
  • Conduct livelihood assessments at the community level and mentor livelihood beneficiaries and support customers to keep up to dated records about their business.
  • Ensure access and timely delivery of material, logistical, and further technical support and set eligibility criteria for material and other support.
  • Contribute to field surveys, training of beneficiaries on various skills.
  • Conduct regular visits (as possible) to other field sites to observe the quality of the implementation of the livelihood activities.
  • Identify, prioritize and support communities to implement potential livelihood strategies that are less sensitive to existing and potential hazards and resilient to crisis.
  • Prepare plans for effective execution of the project activities related to livelihood approaches that targets most vulnerable people and increases the resilience of the target communities.
  • Develop narrative reports, updates and case studies on the livelihood activities of the project as requested.
  • Develop and maintain good lines of communication and relationships with local authorities and the local community.
  • Other duties as assigned. Any other activities and tasks assigned by manger as required.

 

 

 

 

 

Educational & Professional background:

 

  • University degree in economics, development, social sciences or related fields, or equivalent field experience. 
  • Three years related experience including livelihood programming and supervisory experience; or equivalent training experience. 
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function in extremely difficult condition and work under pressure
  • Understanding of practical approaches to work with community organization, flexible to learn and adapt 
  • Proven skill to assess and analyze needs within the short timeframe, conceive a new idea
  • Proven skill to transfer skill, and skill to develop capacity development needs in livelihood 
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email/internet software

 

Languages

  • Fluency in Arabic is required. Working knowledge of English Language is a must
