Background:
SHiFT is a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and/or marginalized zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities. It brings people together and bridges differences through building capacities, raising awareness, creating opportunities, promoting success models and mentoring. SHiFT was founded in 2015 by four local Tripoli residents and activists, after the Lebanese army implemented a security plan in the area to end the rounds of violent clashes. Since then SHiFT has grown into a vibrant community center and business incubator, working for social transformation in the area. Through its programs, SHiFT provides various activities such as business development support to nano, micro and small businesses as well as business incubation, labs, training, coaching and mentoring and job placement services.
Objective:
The Communications Assistant is responsible for the external communication and visibility of SHiFT on its website and social media platforms.
Job description:
- Collect information from projects and programs for external communication purposes
- Actively looking for ways to do fundraising and campaign work through SHiFT’s communication channels
- Be responsible for updating and editing the website and social media in a timely and organized manner
- Take lead on designing and drafting a monthly newsletter
- Maintain an archive for media content
- Evaluate social media analytics and trends
- Support in developing and implementing an annual communications plan to ensure excellent communication internally as well as externally to supporters, stakeholders, and the general public
- Support in writing, editing and proofreading a range of materials for both internal and external audiences to ensure consistency and compliance with SHiFT’s branding, values, key messages and style guidelines
- Support in designing and drafting the annual report
- Support SHiFT’s program staff with project visibility, branding or campaigns when needed
- Attend SHiFT’s events and support in event management if needed
- Attend and summarize conferences and meetings when relevant
- Attend internal and external training opportunities as recommended by Supervisor
- Potentially, research topics and issues related to SHiFT’s programming
- Assisting in other ad-hoc activities as instructed
Required competencies:
- Bachelor degree in mass communication, graphic design, marketing or any other relevant field
- Good knowledge of online platforms, and social media outlets including online tools
- Knowledge of online campaigns and marketing strategies
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design and other graphic design//video design production tools is a must.
- Good understanding of the political and security situation in Lebanon.
- Portfolio consisting of examples and images of previous work
- Previous experience in marketing or design
- Deep understanding of how to build a brand from the ground-up
- Patience and positive attitude is highly desired
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Excellent Arabic and English skills, both written and oral
- Strong communication skills
