Job Summary
- Purpose of the Consultancy
To facilitate the adequate and timely response to children’s basic needs, while ensuring that children and families are linked and referred to services that address their social, educational, health, emotional, psychological and protection needs.
- Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct community needs assessments, including Household Needs and Situation Assessments and regular service mapping.
- Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to better understand community concerns.
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and community leaders through outreach efforts.
- Monitor local protection risks and refer vulnerable children facing protection concerns to specialized Child Protection services.
- Provide parenting support to caregivers and extended family members.
- Act as a community focal point—a trusted resource where children and parents can safely report cases of abuse, seek help, and access support services.
- Coordinate with Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the area, linking the community to available services and raising awareness of their offerings.
- Refer mothers with maternal health challenges to PHCs and Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF) specialists for support.
- Refer young children to nutrition partners for micronutrient supplementation.
- Conduct weekly awareness sessions for children on different topics.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
- Qualifications
Education:
- BS in social work, sociology, health or any relevant field.
Experience:
- Strong public speaking and communication skills.
- Familiarity with the target area, including local community dynamics, public and private stakeholders, and vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of Child Protection minimum standards, safe identification and referrals, Health & Nutrition, and QUDWA (training will be provided).
