Job Summary
- Purpose of the Consultancy
The ECD Focal Point will be responsible for ensuring the effective integration of the WASH, Health, and Nutrition (WHN) component within the Makani Centers, strengthening early childhood development services, and promoting healthy, safe, and nurturing environments for children and caregivers.
- Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver a comprehensive package of ECD and nutrition activities to caregivers of children aged 0–5 years through structured group sessions, individual counselling, and home visits.
- Conduct developmental milestone and nutrition screenings for children and ensure timely referral of cases requiring additional services (health, nutrition, protection, or specialized support).
- Provide supplementation and awareness sessions to promote healthy child growth, positive caregiving practices, and early stimulation.
- Conduct WHN awareness sessions for community beneficiaries (adults, youth, and children) within the Makani centers and surrounding communities.
- Attend WHN capacity-building TOT training and project orientation sessions organized by UNICEF and SHiFT.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
- Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Public Health, Nutrition, or related field.
Experience:
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in implementing ECD, nutrition, or caregiver support programs within humanitarian or development settings.
- Experience working directly with caregivers, children under five, and communities on health, nutrition, or parenting practices.
- Strong knowledge of child development milestones, positive parenting, and community-based approaches.
Skills:
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and counselling skills.
- Good data collection, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Fluency in Arabic (required) and working knowledge of English.
- Commitment to child rights, protection, inclusion, and safeguarding principles.
