MEDIA MENTOR

Background 

SHIFT is a social innovation hub for social transformation in Qobbe, Jabal Mohsen and Bab Al Tabanneh. By creating a positive, diverse, dynamic and harmonious momentum through a “space” for inspiration, learning, and sustainable socio-economic impact, we transform communities.  

Shadda Media Lab is a media platform and a shared working space for media producers in Tripoli.  

Shadda was established at Shift Social Innovation Hub with the contribution of a group of youth, with the aim of promoting peace and positivity through informative, entertaining, and realistic content. The first phase of the project was to build relations and cohesion among local communities and to enable individuals through communication and participation in creating meaningful media content.  

Shadda is the first media lab to offer its services directly to marginalized communities in the areas in Tripoli. Shadda also provides a safe space for workshop and content creation, in addition to providing the basic equipment for content creation for every young man and woman with the passion to create meaningful innovative content.  

Job Description 

We are looking for a professional and creative media and communication specialist to guide and mentor our team of media creators and journalists over the course of 9 months. 

In this period, the focus of the project will be on providing capacity building and training to a group of interested and semi-experienced journalists and media creators, in order to support them in their creative media journey. The aim of this training program is to support the team in designing, developing, producing and launching their social media projects.  

The role of the mentor is to lead the technical process of the training program, starting by the ideation phase moving to mentorship and follow up phases.  

On the other hand, the mentor is expected to support the core team of the media lab in designing and producing two shows 30 episodes and launch them on our social media platforms. 

Our core team members are a group of media college graduated and young media activists with a very good experience of media and different cultural backgrounds. 

The mentor will have a role to support SHADDA media lab staff in terms of the strategic and administrative development of SHADDA media lab. 

Responsibilities: 

• Support the trainees in design, create and launch their projects on social media 
• Conduct mentorship session for the team throughout the project implementation.  
• Provide mentorship for the core team while working on the production of the 15 episodes under the project theme.  
• Support the team of trainers by advising on the content of the workshops they will provide for the trainees.  
• Develop a mentorship workplan that reflects the needs of the project and the team.  
• Support the media lab coordinator in developing the needed SOPs for the media lab.  
• Provide mentorship on communication and social media levels.  
• Provide periodic reports and feedback to the coordinator as the first person in charge in the Media lab.  

Qualifications 

• Certifications and experience in media and information field.  
• Strong facilitation and organizational skills. 
• Ability to work in a team.
• Strong interpersonal skill.
• Proven experience as an art director. 
• Excellent Communication Skills.
• Conflict/ gender Sensitivity Training is an Asset. 
• Experience in designing training modules. 
• Excellent social and personal relationships. 
• Excellent communication skills. 
• Excellent in English and Arabic.  

Professional Experience: 

• minimum 5 years of professional experience in similar specialization. 
• Excellent working knowledge of Adobe programs (related premiere, after effect, photoshop, Illustrator). 
• Excessive experience on social media platforms. 

Fees:

• 100 $ Full working day - 8 hours. 

Duration 

• 45 full days during 9 Months form 15 September 2021 to 15 May 2022. 

Working hours 

• Average 40 hours each Month

• Fluent in English and Arabic
