Outreach Worker/mobilizers

SHiFT is a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and/or marginalized zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities. It brings people together and bridges differences through building capacities, raising awareness, creating opportunities, promoting success models and mentoring. Within its partnership with UNICEF, SHiFT will be operating a short term pilot project dedicated to protection mainstreaming across most vulnerable children in the area of Amerken, Bekkar, Jabal, Tebbane and, Mashrou3 el hariri in Tripoli. Throughout this intervention SHiFT is seeking the expertise of outreach workers to help through the community mobilization process.

 

SCOPE OF WORK: The outreach workers will identify hard to reach children, adolescent boys and girls available ensure they have increased information about available services, rights and duties and potential engagement in risk reduction activities. They will facilitate outreach visits, community awareness raising on available services, risk identification, internal and external referrals based on the identified needs and action planning in coordination with the project officer.

The Outreach Workers will be trained by the project manager and supervised by the project officer.

Who this position reports to: Project Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community outreach

  • Assist the project team in identifying vulnerable communities and areas where high density of out of school and hard to reach adolescent boys and girls exist to promote available services, and conduct referrals as needs arise.
  • Organize a minimum of 2 weekly outreach visits to provide information about services, conduct awareness sessions with hard-to-reach adolescent boys and girls and identify risks to their safety and security in the community, distribute brochures, leaflets and service notes and develop community-based strategies to address identified risks
  • Equip and update project officer with information about available services in their locations
  • Raise awareness of children and caregivers on topics including: CP, GBV, sexual and reproductive health, hygiene, positive parenting, life skills, etc.
  • Facilitate confidential referrals to respective parties (whether internal or external) as per identified needs to promote access to adequate services to the most vulnerable hard to reach children, adolescent boys and girls.
  • Facilitate the working process of the team inside the centers and at mobile locations if or when needed.
  • With the support and supervision of project officer, conduct regular assessments of adolescent boys and girl’s safety in their community and report findings to Project manager for follow up action

Trainings and meetings

  • Participate in core skill building training and/or learning modules, as required

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Consolidate findings from weekly outreach visits, safety assessments and other activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good knowledge of the geographical area of Mankoubin, Tebbane, Wadi el nahle, Jabal..
  • Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize.
  • Works well in a team, flexible, and able to handle pressure well and able to move in the field
  • Computer literacy preferred but not required.
  • Fluency in Arabic required. Basic ability to communicate in English is an added value.
  • Strong  communication skills
  • Efficiency, integrity and flexibility required at all times
  • Critical thinking and analysis competencies
