Peer to Peer Program Specialist

JOB OVERVIEw

SHiFT social innovation hub is implementing a child protection project in partnership with UNICEF in the areas of Jabal Mehsen, Tebbaneh, Kobbeh and surroudings including Amerken, Bekkar, Riva and Mashrou3 el hariri, mankoubin, and wadi el nahle to ensure protection mainstreaming for most vulnerable children in Tripoli and initiate theory of change. This intervention aims at supporting hard to reach children to get back on track and avoid having them involved in grave violations. Adding to that, the project entails working deeply with 12 peers to contribute to the creation of a peer to peer support program that would allow the team to reach out to a wider group of adolescent boys and girls and increase their awareness on child protection risks, link them with available service providers in their respective areas and based on their needs, and last but not least make them a hub of information in their own communities. Therefore, we seek the expertise of specialists to work closely with this group to introduce them to social media, train them on citizen journalism, walk them through how to be a positive influential, and prompt their sense of belonging to channel their potentials and prompt them to participate in the theory of change.

Specialist should coordinate with project team and work in direct collaboration with project management team. Specialist is expected to participate in the selection of the peers, assess their potentials, support the management team during the induction session and workout a plan for a set of workshops that would prepare this team to become agent of change within their communities and most importantly circle of peers/ acquaintances. Candidate is expected to:

  • Support project team in screening of candidates and selection of 12 influential adolescents between the age of 16 and 18 from the above-mentioned catchment areas to participate in our peer to peer support program.
  • Support in induction session with the selected candidates to introduce them to the intervention and plans forward get their inputs ahead of tailoring upcoming workshops and intervention.
  • Follow up on program implementation and coordinate with different parties.
  • Ensure adherence to internal rules and regulations at all times.
  • Maintain a good rapport with participants for sustainability purposes
  • Deliver specific workshops as identified following the initial induction meeting with the participants (topics should be around leading by example, storytelling, citizen journalism, social media impact, communication and conflict mitigation skills.).
  • Any other tasks as project and flow of activities may require.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Work on interactive peer to peer approach.
  • Ensure coordination and adherence with Qudwa strategy
  • Work in compliance with the standard operating procedures and ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Provide management team with recommendations as deemed necessary.
  • Assist the project team in identifying upcoming opportunities to involve further youth or potential involvement of original group in further activities for sustainability purposes.
  • Continuous follow up on feedback and complaint mechanism.
  • Overview challenges, assess situation and involve as much parties as needed to make this intervention a success.
  • Adhere to interagency rules and regulations
  • Provide continuous and timely feedback to upper management

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

  • Degree or respective experience in social work with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Good knowledge of the line of work and various programs and vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to engage with team members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
  • Positive and professional attitude, and good organization skills.
  • Great team leading and active listening skills.

  • Strong Ability to handle pressure and sensitive incidents.
  • Flexibility in implementation modality according to the prevailing situation.
  • Fluency in Arabic required.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Efficiency, integrity and flexibility required at all times
  • Critical thinking and analysis competencies
  • Computer literacy

Preferred

  • Basic ability to communicate in English is an added value.
  • INGO or NGO experience
  • Experience working with refugee population
  • Skilled at using basic computer programs – Microsoft Word and Excel
