SKOUN is a Lebanese, non-profit, non-governmental organization and one of the first outpatient facilities that provide accessible treatment, education and protection for all people who use drugs while maintaining its values regarding inclusion, accessibility, integrity, and dignity.

For 20 years, SKOUN has been caring for the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon and strives to ensure drug use and addiction are treated as primary health issues.

SKOUN aims to support the development of a community-based substance use and mental health system in line with the National Mental Health Strategy and model of care, tackling gender barriers in service access and gender biases in service provision through offering quality and gender-sensitive services to women, men, boys, girls and gender non-conforming individuals living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Under "Integrated Wellbeing Bridging Gaps in Mental Health and Substance Use Services for Sustainable Community Support in Baalbek” is a joint project implemented by Skoun and Amel organization under the Shabake framework, with the support of AFD, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Expertise France. From April 2024 to June 2025, the project aims to improve access to mental health and substance use services in Baalbek by integrating specialized treatment into Amel’s Primary Health Care Center in Douris, Bekaa, Lebanon.

Purpose of the Assignment

The training will equip Skoun staff with knowledge, techniques, skills, and confidence to:

  • Facilitate sessions effectively.
  • Engage diverse audiences.
  • Deliver high-impact training programs.

Objective:

Participants will be enabled to:

  1.  Understand the role and responsibilities of an effective facilitator 
  2.  Develop skills in designing, planning, and delivering engaging and inclusive awareness sessions and training programs
  3.  Learn advanced facilitation techniques to foster participation, manage group dynamics, and adapt to diverse audience needs
  4.  Gain confidence in public speaking, presenting, and managing interactive sessions.

Scope of Work

The trainer will be responsible for

  1. Designing a tailored Training of Facilitators curriculum based on the organization’s needs 
  2. Delivering the interactive training sessions to staff
  3. Incorporating practical exercises, role-plays, and group discussions to ensure hands-on learning.
  4. Providing tools and techniques for managing challenging participants, creating inclusive environments, and evaluating session effectiveness.
  5. Offering constructive feedback and individual coaching to participants during practice sessions.
  6. Developing and sharing training materials, handouts, and tools for future reference.
  7. Submitting a final report summarizing the training outcomes, participant feedback, and recommendations for future capacity building.

Deliverables:

  1. Training materials, including presentations, handouts and role play
  2. Pre- and post-training assessment test
  3. A final report summarizing the training process, outcomes and recommendations

Duration and Location:

  • The training will be conducted over 3 days, tentatively scheduled In June

Trainer Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience in designing and delivering Training programs
  2. Expertise in adult learning principles and training methodologies
  3. Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  4. Familiarity with the Health, Education and Social Services sector
  5. A minimum of 10 years of experience in training or capacity-building initiatives

Reporting and Supervision:

The Trainer will report to Skoun’s Executive Director and work closely with the participants

Evaluation Criteria:

The Trainer will be evaluated based on

  1. The relevance and quality of the training materials
  2. The effectiveness of facilitation techniques during the sessions
  3. Participant feedback and engagement levels
  4. Completion of all deliverables within the agreed timeline
