Social Media & Community Manager

Social Media Exchange is recruiting a social media and community manager to enhance and coordinate our online presence, which consists of multiple channels in both English and Arabic. As the social media and community manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing measurable social media strategies, creating consistency in voice and visuals across all channels, and developing innovative approaches to broadening the reach of SMEX’s digital media training and advocacy work to both Arabic- and English-speaking audiences. Key areas of responsibility Develop and execute goal-oriented, measurable social media strategies for SMEX channels, including the website, Facebook and Twitter accounts, email newsletter, and other niche accounts as well as our collaborative resource library Tasharuk.net Work with project managers to develop project-specific social media workflows, including editorial calendars, to support the promotion of their work Produce monthly analytics reports that connect social media activity to impact and the growth of our community Stay up-to-date on new social media tools and tactics, especially those related to digital advocacy and activism Work with SMEX team to issue a monthly email newsletter about our activities, and other related news. Maintain SMEX’s contact database and build strong linkages to online and offline media outlets and bloggers Contribute to the development of training materials on social media management Qualifications At least 5 years’ experience in online communication, digital marketing and communication A university degree in a field related to our areas of focus is preferred Strong writing and editing ability in Arabic and/or English A high degree of digital media and information literacy, plus a strong sense of visual design Must be based in Lebanon and able to commit to 35+ hours/week Knowledge of human rights and/or digital rights issues desired Other essentials Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills are a must Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment You work well in a team and can pitch in where necessary You can take initiative and responsibility and are open to direct feedback You value diversity of background, opinion, and approach You’re willing to experiment and reflect on lessons learned Excellent references Interested candidates should email a motivation letter explaining your interest in this position and a current CV, with your salary requirements, to jobs@smex.org with “SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNITY MANAGER” in the subject line.
