Media Consultant

Project Description In partnership with Vivre Positif and with the support of the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), Soins Infirmier et Developpement Communautaire (SIDC) started implementing its project “Speak Up: Human Rights Monitoring System for HIV law reform in Lebanon”.This project, which will be launched by the end of 2015, aims at addressing the challenges faced by individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS through building a coalition of civil society organizations composed from LANA (Lebanese AIDS Network Association) members and other organizations to mobilize the general public and advocate for:• A more enabling environment for PLHIV• Their health, legal and social needs• The passage of the HIV/AIDS law Job Description ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The media consultant will help in the preparations and setting up the strategy of a media campaign including identifying and taking appointments from TV, radio stations and magazines. The media consultant will also target 6 newspapers and magazines and edit the articles to be published. Also, this consultant will be involved in the preparations of a stakeholders' meeting regarding the media coverage and press release publication. The number of days needed for the completion of the abovementioned requirements was estimated to be a total of 4 full working days.QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS• B.S. in Media studies/ Political Science/ Journalism (Masters is a plus)• A minimum of 5 years of experience in similar work• Has a previous work experience with NGOs • Able to work in a team • Able to take comprehensive minutes of meetings • Fluent in both spoken and written English and Arabic TERMS OF REFERENCES • The media consultant will attend an introductory meeting with SIDC, VP and coalition members to agree on a plan for the media campaign, what are the components of success etc…• The media consultant will prepare and submit a plan for the media campaign components and coverage• The media consultant will support the communication officer in appointments from TV, radio and magazine interviews• The media consultant will be responsible of editing press releases and disseminating them to newspapers• The media consultant will make sure there is proper media coverage during the important events within the project
