Voluntary Counseling and Testing officer at the sexual health clinic

 

 

DESCRIPTION: 

Society for Inclusion and Development for Community, and Care for All (SIDC) initiated its work in 1987 (decree 9 / AD) with the aim of improving the social and health situation of the most vulnerable groups and defending their human rights, their right to health, social and mental health services as well as their right to work and live in dignity.

SIDC is seeking Voluntary Counselling and testing personnel (VCT) for the project "Empowering 130 Individuals from the LGBTQIA+ Community in Lebanon" funded by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with the overall objective of reducing the risk of gender-based violence (GBV) amongst individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community residing in Lebanon.
The VCT personnel will be operating at SIDC’s sexual health clinic to fulfill the roles and responsibilities detailed below.

    1. Their role is to raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health and information about SIDC services for vulnerable groups including youth at risk, vulnerable women, LGBTQ+ individuals, people at risk of contracting HIV and STIs, PLHIV, GBV survivors, people at risk of GBV and other vulnerable populations.
    2. Conduct pre-counseling and post-counseling sessions for the vulnerable populations.
    3. Conduct rapid HIV, HBV, HCV and SYPHILLIS testing.
    4. Refer individuals to other STI testing such as Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, herpes, Human Papilloma virus etc. 
    5. Refer individuals to dermatologist, STIs specialist and infectious diseases physician.
    6. Assist the infectious disease physician during his consultations at the clinic
    7. Follow up with beneficiaries and refer individuals in need to vaccination and other clinical services provided. 
    8. Report to the project coordinators with any and all data and challenges. Work collaboratively with the other project staff.
    9. Attend regular meetings with the project staff.
    10. Regularly update the data entry required by the project.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Has a bachelor degree in nursing, medical laboratory sciences or social work or other relevant fields
  • Previous experience working in HIV/AIDS programs.
  • Attended the VCT training with the National Aids program is a plus.
