Climate Change Project Manager

SPNL Team is currently looking for candidates to fill the position of:

Position: Climate Change Project Manager

Department: Climate Change Department

Reporting to: Head of Climate Change Department

Employment Type: Full-time

Contractual Period: Two years, renewed annually (3-month probation period) 

Salary: 1,700 USD/month

Others: Applicant must have their personal car and a valid driving license

 

 

Overall Purpose of the Job

The climate change Project Manager will lead on the overall management and implementation of a three-year project on climate change with national and international projects, including municipalities, Ministry of Environment, UNDP, universities, local community, etc.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan

Coordinate and lead project team and work closely with the senior project advisor and head of climate department

Coordinate the project across SPNL departments and collaborate with other teams as needed to ensure synergy, coordinate co-funding and ensure efficient implementation of activities.

Develop and manage strategic relationships with project stakeholders (municipalities, NGOs, project partners, government agencies, universities, etc.)

Represent the organization at key events in relation to the project

Schedule and maintain regular staff calls/meetings with relevant stakeholders and key partners

Coordinate project resources and third parties for the swift execution of projects

Ensure that all project activities are delivered on-time, within scope and budget

Manage resources in an effective and efficient manner

Track project costs in order to meet budget

Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress

Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs

Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques

Report to management as needed

Perform risk management to minimize project risks

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution

Ensure timely technical and financial reporting to donors as required

 

Education and Competencies

Bachelor's degree in environmental and sustainable development area

A minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience in developing and implementing environmental projects

Experience in working with multi-stakeholders (NGOs, government, UN agencies, municipalities, etc).

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple activities with numerous team members in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively across multiple programs

Ability to work independently as needed, using judgment to manage and organize multiple tasks to completion

Strong project management skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail

Flexible and able to adapt to frequent change and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others

Experience with communications through traditional media, social media, and grassroots outreach

Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with others across diverse cultures and backgrounds

Bilingual in Arabic and English

Some evening and weekend work

Occasional travel
