Journalism and Editing Consultant

MAAN is looking to hire a Journalism and Editing Consultant to support the production of a youth oriented newspaper.

Main Responsibilities:

- Idea Designing and Production: Lead on and oversee the design and implementation of the newspaper and on producing the newspaper starting from planning for the idea to the finalization point.

- Management: Lead on assigning, following up, coordinating with content creators. 

- Content Creation: Writing and editing content for the newspaper and providing the needed guidelines for the content creators including technical, researching, editing, networking, drafting articles, conducting interviews, and analyzing data. 

- Design Coordination: Collaborating with graphic designers to create visually appealing layouts for the newspaper.

- Campaign Messaging: Ensuring that the content and design of the newspaper align with the campaign’s messaging and identity.

- Audience Research: Conducting research to understand the target audience and tailoring the Newspaper content to their needs and preferences.

- Proofreading: Checking the final drafts of content and design for errors in grammar, spelling, and formatting.

- Distribution Strategy: Planning and implementing strategies for distributing brochures to the target audience, which could include mailing, handouts, or digital distribution.

- Confidentiality: Respect confidentiality of the project and protect the intellectual property of the organization.

- Upholding Ethical Standards: Uphold the ethical and safety standards of the project.

Job Requirements:

- Education degree in Arts and communication, Media studies, Journalism, ect. 

- At least 10 years working experience in newspaper platform, journalism, or media production. 

- Fluent in Arabic (writing and speaking).

- Proven knowledge in both national and regional issues.

- Proven knowledge and experience in issues related to youth and socio-economic issues. 

- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.
