Driver

Solidar Suisse is hiring a driver to drive Solidar vehicles for transport of authorized persons in the project areas (Nabatieh, Saida and Jezzine) and also meeting areas (Tyre, Beirut); he/she collects and delivers mail, documents and other items upon request. The driver is expected to represent Solidar Suisse in a respectful and professional manner and according to humanitarian principles. This position is managed by the Logistics officer. RESPONSIBILITIES Safety & Security Has a good knowledge of security and safety awareness and knows how to conduct themselves at check points and in threatening situations Good knowledge of the Nabatieh, Saida and Jezzine areas and road conditions Apply good judgment in the field and communicate appropriately at all times Take care of the safety and security of the passengers, respects traffic speed limits and traffic rules Check regularly the “first aid kits” and fire extinguishers inside the vehicle and report any problem to the Logistics Officer Vehicles maintenance Undertake a check and control of the vehicle on daily basis before start the engine, keep the vehicle clean and always in good condition Report immediately any technical failure of vehicle to the Logistics Officer Check the tools, the tool-box, the spare tire and other materials of the vehicle Check the fuel delivered and the fuel consumption Compliance Update regularly the log-book for each trip and give it to the Logistics officer on a monthly basis Any other duties advised by the Logistic Officer Procurement Collect quotations from the market Deliver checks and payments Warehousing and stock control Ensure all warehousing is managed according to relevant donor rules and regulations. Ensure auditing standards are maintained according to donor regulations as well as according to internal warehousing procedures. Keep all relevant parties informed of supply pipeline Ensure warehouse can receive all incoming goods as well as dispatch items to facilitate distribution. Follow up on the consumption rates to replenish stock on a timely basis. Perform any other related duties as required by the line manage CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS Holding valid driving licence for at least 5 years – light & heavy vehicle preferred Demonstrate exemplary driving practice. Basic mechanical skills to be able to do small repairs if necessary Fair knowledge of English preferred Ability to work in a team Ability to work after hours or weekends when need arise High degree of integrity, patience and discretion Capacity to remain calm in stressful situations
