Solidar Switzerland is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose purpose is to assist disadvantaged, persecuted and oppressed people in Switzerland and abroad with material support and by helping them to help themselves. The institution established in 1936 works for social justice and fights against exclusion and the division of society. Solidar Switzerland has been operating in Lebanon since September 2012 implementing programs in Food Security, Non Food Item distribution and emergency response.  Solidar Switzerland is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Driver to oversee the operations of relief projects in Nabatieh, Saida and Jezzine Districts.  Duration: 2 months renewable contract To apply: Please submit your CV and cover letter (in English) to solidarswitzerland.lebanon@gmail.com with the post title on the subject line explaining why you are best qualified for this position. Background:  This position will support emergency Non Food Item Distribution, Shelter and WASH interventions aimed at improving the lives of refugees from Syria and providing critical support to host communities.  Drivers Primary responsibilities: Drive office vehicles for transport of authorized persons in the  project areas (Saida and Jezzine); strictly observing traffic rules and regulations; demonstrating exemplary driving practice Log all trips, daily mileage, and petrol consumption and keep the log book up-to-date Collect and deliver mail, documents and other items as requested by finance and administration manager, project coordinator or logistic officer Provide office or field support as and when necessary Check the mechanical status of the assigned vehicle on daily basis; wash and clean it regularly; undertake minor repairs and report immediately the major repairs to be carried out Ensure timely servicing of the vehicle Promptly report accidents involving the assigned vehicle in accordance with the established rules and regulations Take responsibility for fueling of the assigned vehicle through the Logistic Officer Ensure safety and security of assigned vehicles Equip each vehicle with updated contact list including Solidar Team mobile phone numbers, First-Aid-Kit, repair kit Has a good knowledge of security and safety awareness and knows how to conduct themselves at check points and in threatening situations Good knowledge of the Saida and Jezzine areas and road conditions Apply good judgment in the field and communicate appropriately at all times Remain calm in stressful situations Any other duties advised by the Logistic Officer  Required qualification, experience and competencies Holding valid driving licence – light & heavy vehicle preferred Basic mechanical skills to be able to do small repairs if necessary Fair knowledge of English preferred Ability to work in a team Ability to work after hours or weekends when need arise High degree of integrity, patience and discretion
