Programme Coordinator

Solidar Switzerland is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose purpose is
to assist disadvantaged, persecuted and oppressed people in Switzerland and abroad with material support and by helping them to help themselves. The institution established in 1936 works for social justice and fights against exclusion and the division of society. Solidar Switzerland has been operating in Lebanon since September 2012 implementing programs in Food Security, Non Food Item distribution and emergency response.  Solidar Switzerland is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programme Coordinator to oversee the overall project management and leadership of relief projects in Nabatieh and Jezzine Districts and lead a dynamic project team. Duration: 6 months renewable contract.   Background:  This position will provide overall project management of the emergency Non Food Item Distribution, Shelter and WASH interventions aimed at improving the lives of refugees from Syria and providing critical support to host communities.  Programme Coordinator Primary responsibilities: S/he will report to the Country Representative to support her/him in assigned duties and specifically those tasks that relate to overall project management including: project planning, implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation Ensure that all Solidar funded projects are managed and reported in a manner which achieves the goals of the project and are in line with Solidar and donor guidelines and in a manner that demonstrates sound resource management, judgment and accountability. Prepare narrative reports for multiple donors and ensure oversight of possible no cost and cost extensions Oversee the financial management of the project in coordination with Finance and Administration Manager Develop and maintain work plans, calendar of project activities including trainings, staff and external meetings Supervise and coach a diverse team while also implementing Solidar Performance Management systems. This includes ensuring that all JD’s are clear and staff understand expectations, that work plans are realistic and challenging, and staff are given the required training and coaching required to meet goals. To conduct regular management team meetings and develop project monitoring plans to chart progress against targets Coordinate and facilitate the presence of Solidar staff at relevant internal meetings, sector meetings, local government meetings, and other agency bilateral meetings to ensure full integration of Solidar interventions To coordinate and communicate regularly with Country Representative and Finance and Administration Manager on project progress and identify problems and come up with realistic solutions To contribute to the development of project proposals according to Solidar strategy Required Qualifications: Advanced Degree and prior senior level managerial experience in humanitarian related field Demonstrated experience in directing and supervising humanitarian projects funded by major multilateral and or bilateral donor agencies Working knowledge of cross cutting themes including: Protection, Conflict Sensitivity, Gender and Disaster Risk Reduction to ensure that projects are responsive to the specific needs of targeted groups and ensure sustainable outcomes Strong oral and written communications  Excellent interpersonal diplomatic skills to liaise with agencies, government, donors and diplomatic missions with a view to enhance Solidar Switzerland program Experience in planning and implementing non food item distribution, shelter and or cash transfer projects is desired Strong motivational leader with coaching skills Ability to listen to various view points and make effective decisions Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure Excellent project management and financial management skills High degree of independence, flexibility and ability to self evaluate and work in complex settings.
