Water Hygiene And Sanitation (Wash) Consultant - Rehabilitation Of Unfinished Buildings / Small Shelter Units

Background Solidar Suisse has received funding from UNHCR to rehabilitate unfinished housing units to enable safe and secure shelter for vulnerable Syrian refugee households in Nabatieh and Jezzine districts.  Solidar seeks to ensure that all building work and installations are compliant with national and international WASH standards. Solidar is looking to expand its other WASH activities in the South in response to unmet needs in its operational areas including hygiene promotion and WASH-specific activities.  Solidar Suisse is therefore seeking a part-time WASH consultant to develop Solidar Suisse’s WASH capacity and contribute to the development of its WASH programmes.  Scope of Work The WASH consultant, under the supervision of the Shelter Coordinator, will work closely with the Shelter Technical Specialist and WASH Officer to develop Solidar Suisse’s WASH capacity.  This will include: -          Strengthen the capacity of the WASH Officer, through mentoring and training, in the minimum standards for WASH during building reconstruction so that the WASH Officer can complete the BOQ for WASH facilities and effectively monitor the WASH elements of the building construction.   -          Developing written guidelines on WASH standards for Solidar Suisse’s rehabilitation programme. -          Input into WASH monitoring tools for building construction.  -          Provide technical WASH input the Country Representativeand Shelter Coordinator for the development of new WASH project designs. -          Provide technical input into monitoring and evaluation tools for WASH interventions together with the Technical Specialist -          Provide technical input into the development of hygiene promotion activities including development of a communication strategy for hygiene promotion. -          Consult with national level WASH stakeholders to develop standard hygiene promotion messages to support hygiene kit distribution and train Field Officers on this subject. -          Design relevant materials for hygiene promotion (posters, flyers, etc). The minimum number of days required will be 15 up to a maximum of 30 between 21 April and 30 June.  There may be opportunities for contract extension beyond this date dependent on availability of funds.
