Who we are
Solidarites International is an international humanitarian organization which provides aid and assistance to victims of war or natural disaster. For over 30 years the association has focused on meeting three vital needs - water, food and shelter - by carrying out emergency programmes followed by longer-term reconstruction projects. Whilst fully respecting the assisted populations’ customs and culture, SolidaritesInternational’s programmes are implemented through the joint expertise of around 180 expatriates and 1500 local managerial staff and employees. Solidarites International is currently present in Africa (Central African Republic, South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast), in Asia (Afghanistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan), in the Middle East (Syria and Lebanon) and in Haiti.
MISSION
Responsibilities:
General responsibilities
Under the authority of the Program Manager, the Activity Manager will be responsible for:
Implementing the activities and meeting the objectives as defined in the operation proposals
Supervise the Community Mobilization team
Ensure the timely implementation of the Community Mobilization activities, that SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL’s quality standards are met and proposes adjustments or developments to ensure relevance if necessary
Task Description:
Assessments and project conception
Participate in the preparation and implementation of assessments of new activities.
Participate in the design and the financial dimension of the human and logistical programs to implement
Project Implementation
Ensure the timely implementation of the Community Mobilization activities according to the set objectives and SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL standards defined but not limited to, the community mobilization SOP’s and Modus Operandi, including:
v Establish a planning as for the creation of Community Wash Committees, the trainings (in collaboration with the Wash team) and the follow-up activities.
v Train and supervise the community mobilizers in the implementing of initial focus group discussions and the trainings provided to the committees.
v Train and supervise the community mobilizers in the support and follow-up of the committees created
v Provide guidance and capacity building to team members on community mobilization technics and wash related technical issues.
v Ensure the implementation of specific follow-up activities to assess the good process and the impact of the community mobilization activities.
v Ensure the link with the Outreach and the Wash teams and the transmission of relevant information at all stages of the program
Make sure the objectives for the activities under his/her responsibility are achieved and the deadlines are met
Regularly visit the activities’ sites
Identify and anticipate any risks and constraints related to the Community Mobilization activities and propose alternate strategies to the Program Manager
In collaboration with the Program manager(s), adapt the beneficiary/sites selection methodology as necessary, in particular, the selection criteria
Assess the relevance of activities, the effectiveness of interventions, and their appropriateness through monitoring form in light of changing circumstances and the needs of populations, propose adjustments to programs if necessary (All changes to be formalised and inscribed in the SOPs and modus Operandi and to share those changes to PM and CO)
Use the SOL management and monitoring tools for the activities, results and context
Support the Program Manager with the assessment of human needs, logistical and financial resources needed at different stages of the activities
Ensure that the safety of persons and equipment at intervention/project sites is guaranteed
Team management
Take part in the recruitment of community mobilizers
With the administrative department, define the prerequisites for the community mobilizers vacant positions and, if necessary, adapt the referent job profile
Welcome and brief new employees working under his/her responsibility
Organise regular meetings and workshops with team members
Manage and support the team under his/her responsibility
Supervise and monitor potential conflicts within the teams and inform the Program Manager in case of problem
Identify any training/capacity building needs and implement training activities in accordance with operational requirements
Ensuring the teams are well aware of all changes affecting the population of interest and the teams are able to properly refer cases and are able to distribute appropriate hotline numbers of different agencies.
Participate in the development of the Community Mobilization team’s methodological capacities
Evaluate the performance of the members of his/her team
Identify team members’ potential for advancement and communicate this information to the Program Manager
Monitor teams to ensure that they are adhering to health and safety regulations
Monitoring
In collaboration with the Program Manager, (and the monitoring team) adapt the monitoring tools and methodologies as necessary
Support the evaluation surveys conducted by the Community Mobilizer as per request of other department(s).
Draft reports based on the monitoring surveys conducted.
Conduct regular spot checks on all relevant databases ensuring good quality control. (Different relative databases should match, conduct daily data cleaning, using good common sense and a logical approach while reading databases, alarming PM.
Reporting
Report weekly the activities of his/her team to the Program Manager using the appropriate tool and forms
Implement the regular reporting for the Community Mobilization activities progress and lesson learnt using the appropriate formats, reports and databases
Report any type of problem encountered on the field
Immediately report any problems or information that could affect the projects/activities or the security of the teams to the Program Manager
Write regular reports on the progress of the activities for the Program Manager
Take part in the drafting of reports and schedules/appendices related to the activities for donors and/or sponsors
Maintain a local operational communication network and positive relations with the local/governmental authorities, donor representatives, UN and other international agencies in cooperation with the Program Manager and Field Coordinator
Represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in collaboration with the Program Manager for the projects/activities to the relevant bodies: local authorities, sector, partners, … within his/her employment location

Candidate’s profile:
Degree in social science preferable,
Good understanding of participatory approach and community based programs,
Interest in WaSH and social change,
Previous experience in humanitarian field,
Previous team management experience,
Strong social and communication skills,
Leadership skills and teaching abilities,
Good analytical ability,
Calm, diplomatic, understanding problem solver and patient
Sound knowledge of office softwares.
Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English
Good reporting skills
Good knowledge of North Governorate is a plus,
Valid Driving licence
